Jdm H22a no vtec, why??

I bought a 94 accord with the jdm h22a swap already in it. Bad decision because I didn't look into it, I bought someone else's problem. The cars redlining at 5800 rpm. I changed the oil, the vtec solonoid works I tested it. I'm just so stumped I don't know what to do, I've been researching for a month and everyone says the same about the solenoid and changing oil.

Yeah but how do I check that? Do I use a multivolt meter to see if there power going to it?

You can check the resistance value to see if there is a short or an open, or you could just swap it. An oil pressure sensor should be that much.

Ok, if it's bouncing off 5.8K RPM. You have a problem somewhere else and this can cause VTEC to not engage. Do you know anyone with a P13, Chipped P28 or P72 with an H22 basemap, or a GSR ECU that you can try? It may be just that simple, but usually when you're in limp mode, it's a sensor that isn't working properly.

One weird story I heard from a buddy who did an H23A VTEC blue top in his 01 SH Prelude is that when he used the wrong crank pulley and he couldn't go past that RPM. Weird as f*ck as I've never heard of this before, but hey, if it fixes it, its fixed.

Do you have any CEL?? I would check to see what ECU you're even running to begin with. They may have a sh*tty ECU in there knowing they're going to sell the car. Some ppl are just that dumb and shady. I've seen it happen.

Re: Jdm H22a no vtec, why??

Unfortunately none of my friends have a Honda, but do you think Honda would have to to test out on my car? From what he said about the ecu was that it was "skunk 2 p28 ecu". But there is one thing that I kind of ruled out was my vss doesn't work all the time, but even when it is no vtec.

And there's no Cel light, but for all I know is that he didn't connect it up or something.

Start here: The Official "Why VTEC doesn't Engage" Thread - Honda-Tech

I had the same exact issue with my H22, it would reline at 6.5 (what it says on the dash), even though redline on that motor was 7.2. It was throwing a code 22 and would go into limp mode. I'm not sure exactly what fixed it, or what the problem was, it just kinda stopped on its own.

Re: Jdm H22a no vtec, why??

i,ve had my fuel pressure not being high enough (clogged fuel pump sock and filter), and my distributor wasnt good. one thing after another. both kept vtec from engaging. the oil pressure is a good idea for sure but make sure to check these cpl tings too

Re: Jdm H22a no vtec, why??

I don't know about the fuel filter being clogged, when I'm driving my car is quite rich on fuel I'm blowing some black smoke lol.

And I went to get my car scanned, I had the computer hanging out and he said he could do a scan on a 94 accord Model even if there is a newer model computer or engine, this weekend I'm gonna test to see if there's power going to my oil pressure switch and vtec solonoid.
But keep throwing idea guys it's very much appreciated
