Dimming switch causing a million problems...

A bit over a month ago, my dimming switch broke. It would not click anymore to keep the dashboard lights at their brightest setting. That really didnt bother me until out of nowhere they didn't dim at all when I turned my headlights on. That didn't bother me that much either until later when I found out the all my running lights (tail lights, tag lights, marker lights) would not come on when I turned my headlights on..

Ive tried 3 different dimming switches and replaced the fuse under the hood with a higher amp fuses with no success. The higher amp fuses run the lights for a bit but then the fuse blows. I know these dimming switches go out as they get older so I'm hoping somebody who has had this problem will be able to help me. Hopefully LiLmsPrelude will see this thread lol I would really like to be able to drive my car at night again..

Re: Dimming switch causing a million problems...

sorry, been busy and I don't normally have an opportunity to get on pz at night. can i asume when u say dimming switch you are talking about the rotary control on the dash and not the stick on the steering wheel column? if so, have you tested the dimming/light control module on the right-hand side of the dash? I'm not on my home p/c so I don't have access to the repair guide..but the trouble shooting steps are in there. Guaranteed..

Maybe a FUSE or RELAY ? Shortage from water leaks ? stripped wires maybe ?

Re: Dimming switch causing a million problems...

I already know a fuse is blown. I need to find out why tho. As for water leaks and stripped wires not so sure of. The order in which things happened doesn't really support that.
