PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

whats up Pz, i bought a head that i want to build for my h22a1. I want to have it ported and polished since ive saved up enough $$. Im just wondering whats the best way to go. I was looking at Brian Crower stage 2 (or stage 3. ebay has it for the same price) head package. Ive been trying to look it up but ive seen some people that gave it bad reviews. Can you guys shed some light on what i should do? thanks

Re: PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

Port an polish is a good start also look into hot tanking the head

Personally you need to know what your building

Are going boost
All motor
N/a

I can't help you if I don't know what your plans

building the head is great you might get +15 HP
Building the block puts down numbers

I'm stumped. I saw some guy on Honda-tech pushing 250hp with a built head and a stock block. If I may ask what set up do you have

Re: PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

Surprised no one said this. If you are stock compression, I would not recomend stage 2 or stage 3 cams. Certainly not stage 3. Ehhhh you may get by with stage 2 cams.. But stage 1 is where you should be at with your block.

An your right its pointless to run turbo cams if your not boosted thanks for pointing that out an even that I've seen h22s at 450hp with stock cams

Re: PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

True.... IIf you build the build the block all motor, say with like 14 compression pistons, but have a stock head, its just killing it. But if you get new cams it unleashes the power that was held back because the cam and head. However if you go huge cam and no compression to back it up, you lose power. :/

Re: PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

ehhh Crower and brian crower are not bad. I talked to ogsmakdade about this because I heard stories of BC cams snapping, but also it has happened to skunk2. It can happen to anything. It all depends how you break it in, how you drive it and your tune. And sometimes things just break. But I think crower and brian crower are ok. And skunk2 I think is really good. I like Web cams too.

Buy aem adjustables (cam gears) to help with tuning and timing... New springs and retainers (from BC or sk2) fuel rail really not needed unless you are running larger injector. which I would say to run bosh injectors if you were.

Re: PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

Skunk2 pro 1s would be good for you...

All these upgrades are cool but I recommend you find a desent ecu that you can tune
Your engine management with determine how long your build will last

I'm currently on Neptune an I love it!!!

Ya but you want valvetrain for an h22. hahaha. Pro1s are good. Look and see if you can find a kit without the valves. they are useless.

And PM me your number man, better yet text me at 614-581-7201... I am sponsored by a shop called Performance Theory Motorsports. The owner fabricator and metal worker is a engineer from Va tech. Very very smart. Im going there tonight, if you text me I will get a price on how much it would cost for him to port and polish.... Will you be disassembling the head? Or would you want us to do it, and same thing goes for building it up after Pnp.

Just send me a text. Ill be there tonight man.

My number again is 614-581-7201

Re: PZ helpppp!!!!!!!!!

The H22 Pro Series valve springs and retainers are the GSR/B16 ones.

Skunk2 makes the valve spring base kit for the GSR springs/retainers to be able to run them in the H22 head. I'm on Pro2 cams + stock block, and thats what valvetrain I'm running. Also, you can run Stage 2 with stock compression no problem and does work like a charm on stock compression; I've seen good dyno numbers with stock compression. S2 Pro1 and Stage 2 tuner series cams are best IMO; also very debatable between the two. What you need is a good header and intake mani combo to help compensate for good power along with other misc of things plus a good tuner.
