checking abs code 96 vtec

im kinda tired of my light being on, i want to either fix this abs problem or remove it, but i would like to try to fix it first, the guy at vatozone said he hadno way of checking it and i had to take it to a shop lol.

so i googled and found no straight up answer all the threads on ht are a fight whether the methods EACH person had works on obdII or not lol

so how do i check it on my obdII prelude?

comes on after i start driving so probably a sensor but how do i get the actual code num

Re: checking abs code 96 vtec

same way you get the cel code...jump the service connector but count the abs light flashes instead.

i always thought obd2 was never checked through a connector, the obd2 reader port is under the cup holder, an obd2 car will also have those other connectors? where is the one for hte abs?

Re: checking abs code 96 vtec

obd2 has both a service connector and a port, the service connector is a blue 2p connector behind the radio like so:

Re: checking abs code 96 vtec

so how do i know what the code means once i pulled it? i can't find any info telling me what the codes mean... i searched on google and it brought me back to my own post lmfao
i was able to find this site, for an accord but i think it indicates the same code, so I think I have code 1.. am i right? it just flashes one time very quickly and from what i read getting that fixed is a pain the ass.. Should I just remove the abs system?

Re: checking abs code 96 vtec

here's a link for the service manual (download the 70mb one):

SpoonerTuner.com - Free downloadable Honda Acura Factory Service Manuals by HELMS

sounds like code 1 to me- pump motor over-run. there's flow charts in the service manual to troubleshoot the abs if you're up for it. whether you keep abs or not is up to you. and yeah it's normal for the srs light to blink while the service connector is jumped.
