Quick header Questions

Hey guess I know it might be horrible seeing HEADER THREADS but i just want opinions.
Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to buy no name headers off ebay as a replacement ? i have a nasty hole in my flex pipe and i just want to replace it for the time being so i can do other repairs. I plan on changing it when I get ready to upgrade my exhaust and all that. The shops are trying to charge me $130 just to cut and replace that pipe itself.

If YES... Does it matter if its STEEL or CERAMIC ?
If NO... What should i do ?

LIKE THESE ?

Re: Quick header Questions

Cheap ceramic headers may crack. Stainless steel cheap header should be okay but don't expect anything great and any eBay crap that say its like 40 bucks is not worth it. Around 100 is a good cheap header.

If you can handle with the hole until you can get the money to fix your old header
Btw what header are you running and with what motor

I have stocker header with stock H22A1. The hole only bothers me slightly because I can hear the exhaust leak and I get a acceleration lag.
I just want to have something that will last me a couple month to a year, or at least until i finish replacing my timing belt, water pump, and suspension.

Re: Quick header Questions

Id just buy a nice brand new stainless steel header if I were you. Frees up exhaust flow and some weight reduction :)

check the fs threads on all the major forums, someone is bound to be selling a header.

Re: Quick header Questions

I wouldnt get the ebay header because chances are it will not fit properly and you will spend more to get it to fit rather than just repair yours.

Re: Quick header Questions

The down pipe most likey won't bolt up to factory header. Do you have a stock exhaust?

Re: Quick header Questions

Megan is pretty much the same as ebay.... DC not so great either. I would just go to rock auto (online) and buy a stock flex pipe. Until you can buy a legit nice one, dc is junk.

Re: Quick header Questions

damn 130 to cut and replace a piece of piping? I suggest looking into a different muffler shop. Also in case you're looking for performance in the future look into the hytech replica header. ran me 300 from a vendor on pp. best bang for buck.

Hytech reps for 3 is awesome true hytechs go for a grand easily

And paying 130 to fix some flex pipe is crap. Just save up and get something good man

dc is no better than stock for performance, but I wouldn't say it's junk. It's actually contructed pretty well

Re: Quick header Questions

Here's my plan. Timing belt+auto to manuel tensioner conversion+tie rod ends and bellows boots (before the year ends)
Viper Alarm 5901 (a gift for christmas), FF1 because my shocks are blown. jtc short shifter because of boredom. and then im going to start stage one i/h/e. then im going to decide whether to go n/a or not.

Good choice. Maintance is important and should be first. Try to just find a used stock flex pipe at your local junk yard! and keep looking for a used header even though meagan and dc will give you close 2 nothing in gaings they do look well made and no ebay ****.

So this thread is usless and you plan on doing all that before fixing the leak? :)

I already gave you the best suggestion for what you were looking for.
