Pretty sure it's my vss.

But I just wanted to ask before I go waste my time ripping one out of a junkyard car, my speedo was working up to two days ago, it got to 60 then slowly started going down no matter how much fasted I accelerated, last night, it was jumping between 0-20 all night then today 0 mph lol.

My vtec is gone, speedo doesn't work and cel came on shortly after the needle took it last move...

Haven't checked the code but I'm sure it's the vss, but what are the chances that the whole vss needs to be replaced and not just the top piece, I mean I'd have a pretty hard time smuggling the whole vss out of the jy lol the top part should be easy

Re: Pretty sure it's my vss.

i have my vss now, should be going in wedneday, we'll see how that goes, it was fairly easy to take out, shift linkage was the hardest part to get out of the way, at least on the jy car, i just threw it all apart gotta be a little more gentle on my car. the car i got it from was high mileage but the unit looks fairly new, so we shall see.

Re: Pretty sure it's my vss.

It's pretty easy to get back in. If you have a hard time fitting it under the lines and everything, you can take the electrical connection off the top before you put it in, just be careful you don't lose that little brass key that's in there.

The other hard part is getting the clamps back on the PS hoses. If you have the little clamps with screws on them, a stubby philips head screwdriver will help there.

Re: Pretty sure it's my vss.

The little tab that the 10mm bolt runs through had broken off, I tried to jb weld the old assembly together but it didn't stay, so I got a who assembly out of an old cb accord and it fitted in, i slapped it on and it worked fine.

Car has been sold since then..
