rear 5 lug converison hub/rotor stuck won't roll need help!

I am going to say this really simple.

Today, I was going to do rear 5 lug swap and will do front 5 lug swap next week or so.

I took out the wheel, calipers with w. its mounting bracket, oem hubs, and oem rotors.

I changed 4 lugs to 5 lug hubs that I got from eBay.

I put rear 5 lugs drilled/ slotted rotors aganist the 5 lug hubs.

I put rear calipers w. its mouting bracket back in, BUT the mounting bracket is stuck and cant get into between the rotors and the spiindle.

I had to loose the rotor so the mounting bracket can get in then push the rotoer back aganist the hub, but the rotor will be stuck ONLY if I put a small screw on rotor or a wheel to tight it up.

I do not understand at all because I researced ALL threads on the internet. It says 97-01 prelude base model 5 lug hubs/ will work with 4th gen spindles and can reuse rear 92-96 prelude 4th gen calipers and its mounting bracket....

I checked out to see whats wrong, and found out it is stuck is because of mounting bracket is force aganist with the rotors because tight. I don't understand because I did follow what it need to be done in order to have rear 5 lug swap

I did tested by mesaure of the sizes of oem 4 lug rotors and 5 lug drilled/slotted rotors. are all the same!

I did tested by mesaures of the sizes of oem 4 lugs wheel hubs and 5 lug hubs. The only difference is the 4 lug hub have a big circle that can let oem washer go thru. The 5 lug hub wont let the oem washer go thru so I had to put a oem nut lock on it without washer. I did check on eBay where I ordered it from. I typed their vehicle to see if it fit. I clicked "1997 Honda Prelude Base Model" then it says it fit which is what I have right now. I am totally lost!

First picture to show you... the mounting bracket suppose to fit? or what i do that is wrong?

second picture to show you thats how if rotors is fully pushed back and put mounting bracket... thats how it look like, so I had to loose the rotor to let mounting bracket go thru then tight it up.

Please help, thanks!

Re: rear 5 lug converison hub/rotor stuck won't roll need help!

Happened to me too during the conversion.
I had no clue that it would happen that way, but i said F* it and took a rotory grinder and shaved/cut some metal off that bracket. I shaved off a good maybe 5mm off the side that mounts to the hub assembly (bolt/mount section) and the same amount on the inside where the rotor hits thw bracket.
I would grind the metal, install the rotor and the bracket, and check for clearance. Then I would remove and grind some more, until everything sat flush, without any hitting issues.. Took some time, did both sides like this, but now no more issues with it.
There may be another way around this, but I wasn't going to waste anymore time doing research when I had everything in front of me and ready to go in. ..Good luck bro

Re: rear 5 lug converison hub/rotor stuck won't roll need help!

i'm assuming you did turn the rear caliper cylinders in, to allow ur brake pads to fit over the brake new rotor????

I did the same thing u did, had no problem what so ever. Just swapped the 5th gen base rear wheel hubs. Re-used 4th gen rear brake calipers and brackets, new brake pads, drilled/slotted rotors from ebay, and everything bolted right together, except the ABS sensor.

Maybe put the rotor on the hub, and put the bracket on and take a pic of where the fitment issue is...maybe that'll help a little more

Wow.... I have the rotory grinder, but I need to know... what kind of top did you use it to shave off? There are many different kind, so would you mind show me a pic off goggle to show me what did you use?

I would like to know... the rear hubs that you got... Did you get them off a 97-01 prelude or order it brand new off eBay? or tell me where did you get them? I got it from eBay.
