Icon9 thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole car

Kinda sucks, but my Prelude days may be limited.
Not realy enjoying the whole Prelude thing lately. Work and school is keeping me way too busy, among other things.
Was thinking of selling my entire tuned turbo setup and going back to NA for some time.
I'm going to hold onto the car for now, but I don't know for how long.
So much time went into this thing, it's kinda sad to me that I'm actually thinking about this.
I don't know what I need, maybe some inspiration/motivation to continue with it. Any of you been there before ?

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

I'm going to drive up to bAAAssstin personally to murder you if you follow thru with this, no joke!!!!

but no seriously dude, you gotta figure out what you want from the car, if its reasonable and practical, and go from there.

for me personally, the prelude wasn't cutting it anymore. the amount of work(i.e: time/money) that needs to go into the body, suspension, and everything to get her to be reliable and practical condition again, is practically the cost of my STi. plus AWD for how much I go snowboarding was a ginormous factor.

for me, its time to move on. i've had the car 7 years, i've done nearly everything i've wanted with it (excluding built motor/bigger turbo), and its just for bigger/better things. thats just me tho.

^ that's how I feel man. This coming June would mark my 7th year of ownership of this car. I've done everything to it that I wanted to, it has been a very enjoyable experience thus far. One step at a time though, I'm going back to NA and then we'll see.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

Why do you have to sell your set up, why can't you just stop where your at..

I know how you feel an its true all the money we've put on our cars could have bought us new cars by now lol I was at a point were I felt like selling my lude because of how much time/money went into it and wanted something new like nick ... But I thought about it an I'm keeping my car holding off on new parts an just saving money untill then the rest is up to you

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

Was thinking of selling the setup to make it easier to let the car go in future. It's more difficult to let her go in this too-good-of-a-condition, difficult for me ofcourse, internally.

Does boost get boring or something? Everytime I see someone finish their car, they just sell it or part it out. I will never understand this....Please keep it for a while so I don't buy your setup lol.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

Man, I've owned my prelude since June of 09, once it broke down, i did get discouraged and occasionally think.. ...is it worth it? But when i decide to sell it and someone thinks about buying it, Its ME that backs out.. ...Unless you hate your prelude, and i mean hate, then your gunna want it back after its gone. Its sounds like you need to do something fun with it for a bit. Go on a road trip or something, adventurous. But keep the car.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

You've lost the love of it. You ever heard of a saying "its not when you get there but its how you got there".

The times you spent building the motor was fun but got to a dead point. Try something new. Go for a different look. It'll keep you more refreshed. I've been there bro. Found out if I had some sets of rims or lips I could see something that'll amaze me and make me love my car even more.

Unless its about money then that's a different story.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

I was getting tired of the unpracticality of my Prelude, so I bought a Civic daily driver and use the Prelude strictly for track events and when the Civic is being worked on. Rather than selling, maybe pick up another project to keep you busy while contemplating the Preludes future...and if you do sell, don't let it go to some filthy 16 year old who'll street rice it to death...

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

Whoa. You cannot do anything to your prelude but keep it. I see people go into financial debt doing stoopid sh!t in the name of customization. Heavy rims, gaudy tires. Uneccessary sound systems, DVDs/TVs in the headrest. Just god awful blasphemy in the name of personalization. I can carry on man but my point is. You've made it. You crossed the line. You don't need to do anything else. People would sell their soul for your prelude the way it's "tastefully done".

Work and living in NYC kept me from my 3rd gen dreams, I was 90% there, no doubt in my mind about keeping my car. Circumstances denied me my car, but I have now a car, still impractical, boring by today's standards of performance, but It's about 90% there and by summer, I'll be done and part of your club. Get a DD girl and a DD car to take the edge off. Trust these words, they come from experience.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

My suggestion will be to save it as weekend ride or when your are hanging out with the Prelude family, ITS YOUR BABY, for now while you come out with an idea, find another car to mod or daily driver. I believe its weird once you finish with your project and I guess you just want to keep going and cannot figure out what else could you do to it. DON"T SELL IT. May be its time to try to take it to a show or a track.

I want to cry for you. Your car is so beautiful man. I love checking the 4th gen picture thread and see all your updates lol. I'm guessing since you have a turbo setup you have the internals done right including bottom end. If I were you I'd track it! You'd probably fall in love all over again. :)

Nope it's a stock motor(internals) that was rebuilt by him somewhat recently.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

Hey guys, thanks for this discussion. I have decided to keep my Prelude.
I was having and still am having some issues with the exhaust and turbo, and thus became very aggitated and discouraged. The proper steps for me to take at this time is to buy another turbo (issues with the current one) and take the car to a professional exhaust fabricator. The car is parked for the winter, and I am planning to do the above steps as soon as this Spring season. I figure that this is the best way to handle things at this time. I need at least another $1200 to be put into this car before it would be considered road worthy under my standards. I may go back to being NA until my funds are ready. I have decided in keeping the car, and fixing the issues at hand. Thanks guys.

Re: thinking of going back to NA, maybe selling my tuned turbo setup, maybe the whole

glad you decided to keep it. whoever would have potentially bought it would not take as much care of it as you do now. i never understand why some people buy new cars and let them become a hoopdie after a few years

Didn't know you were planning such a thing, but glad you decided against it. It would be a shame to see someone buy an ruin that 4th/5th gen beauty.

Ya i would wanna sell it too if I made 290 something whp on boost! :) :P

Here is motivation, build the block, buy a garret gtx30 turbo, do a top mount and make it fun to drive on boost.
