OEM vs Aftermarket sensors

Im looking into buying a 1995 prelude vtec, and it has an abs light on . owner says its a speed wheel sensor( is there another common problem that could cause the abs light to be on?) .

I got a quote from Honda for the part and they want $135 and aftermarket is around $50.

Has anyone used aftermarket sensors and would you recommend it, or should i just stick with oem sensors?

Thanks!

Re: OEM vs Aftermarket sensors

could be the ABS pump unit like my car needed... No way to know unless you find out what the code(s) are actually stored for.

I haven't had ABS since i've had my car. The prelude is very controllable/driveable without ABS... I've locked up my wheels in the rain, but its a little harder when its dry out. Just gotta be careful...

ABS doesn't necessarily make u stop faster...it moreso allows u to pick ur target...

Re: OEM vs Aftermarket sensors

I would not buy any sensor that is not OEM. OEM will last you 75,000 miles usually more while aftermarket gets you maybe 25,000.

Re: OEM vs Aftermarket sensors

Most aftermarket sensors have a warranty.... I work at a parts store and when I sell abs sensors, i never saw anyone come back as of yet.
