Icon5 So I'm lowered now..

I got the Eibach Sportlines that I have been wanting for quite a while now and I got them in the mail yesterday and I put them on today. It's pretty damn low, I wasn't expecting it to be that much of a drop but that's pretty much what I was going for in the first place rather than buy coilovers. The ride is actually really good.. I am running 215/45/17's and i'm almost tucking tire. There is barely a pinky gap.

So my question/concern is: I have a bad ball joint. My right rear upper to be exact. It knocked around a lot before I was low but now it doesn't knock around nearly as much. I do plan on replacing it but not within the next few days. I will be driving about 60 miles tomorrow and I just wanted to know if I should be worried or concerned about it popping out on me? I never really worried about it before but now that I'm low, I think that there is more of a strain on it so it could be more of a risk than before. Do you guys think it will hold up if I drive like I have some sense?

Re: So I'm lowered now..

sweet man!! I just got a set of 17's today and pretty much slammed on skunk2s. I was planning on running a 40mm tire tho. got any pics of it dropped? And as for your question. I have no idea man, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

Re: So I'm lowered now..

I mean I just want some reassurance that I'll be able to make the trip without having that **** pop out on me doing 65mph..

I don't have any pictures at the moment because I finished them earlier and had to go to work and it was dark when I got off..

The drop made my wheels look sooooo much better on my car.. I have a before picture of it so I'll have an after picture to compare. My wheels are 17x7 w/ 215/45's and it sits pretty damn nicely.. I scraped like hell at the gas station early so I need to adjust to the low life.
If I were you I wouldn't have it slammed because you will have rubbing issues.

Re: So I'm lowered now..

it's not much better.. I need to get my tires balanced because they are "center line" balanced according to a mechanic which is probably the reason why my steering wheel vibrates alot.. I can tell it has a little bit more camber therefore I can hear it because I have the fuzion hri tires on the rear and they suck ass and they are really loud and now louder that i'm lower. and to top it all off, i'm on stock struts..

Re: So I'm lowered now..

I'm going to take my car to discount tire tomorrow and get them to check the balancing on the tires. They were the ones who put my new tires on so I figured they would be able to check them for me. If balancing doesn't fix the vibrations, then what else would it be? I know the next thing after balancing is ball joints/bushings, and then axles.. correct? I really need to get camber kits but i don't know what type to get.. the ball joint style or the ones that go on the control arm. I could really use some insight so let me know guys

Axles - could be, I think the shake would intensify when steering...
Ball joint - not so likely, but it can throw off alignment...
Balancing - very likely
Alignment - very very likey, but components have to be strong and tight to hold on to and maintain a good alignment, ie: bushings, ball joints.
Brake rotor shake - usually only when braking...

So many little things can throw off an alignment, from balancing to hitting a curb when parking. But it's the greatest thing when done right, and buys an insane amount of piece of mind. So YES ! very worth it to update all these things, however, you should be fine driving on a bad ball joint. My front passenger one has been squeaking for a bit now and it's been bad for even longer. It's np for 60 miles.

thanks for breaking that down for me. I really think it's the way my wheels are balanced. I have weights on the very center of the rim, not one on the outside and one on the inside like it would be if i had factory rims. A tech where I work says that the reason why it is probably shaking the way I described was more than likely the way my wheels were balanced. I know that all my ball joints are worn out.. seriously all eight. but one in particular is making the most noise (right rear upper) which sounds like a knocking noise. I've been riding on it for over a year now but i was just curious about how it would hold up being lower now. And i know i'm not "dumped" and honestly I don't want to be. the drop I have is exactly what I wanted.

As you can see in the before pictures, I had about a 2 in gap and i just wanted to close it which i succeeded at doing.. I knew before I had put the springs on that I would need new front struts. My rears were replaced about 6 months ago with monroe sensa trac oem equivalents so i know that they aren't gonna last very long.

So next up on my to do list is: tire balancing, alignment, camber kits (if necessary which I believe so), if not camber kits then replace the right rear upper ball joint, and then tokico blues all around. I am half tempted to get the ES master bushing kit but I don't think I want to feel every bump in the road so I may just go with OEM/OEM equivalent bushings because I still want to maintain a comfortable ride since it is my DD. I have the funds available to fix my suspension so I really need to get started on it.

(I don't want to make another thread so I'll just branch off here)
As for my engine, I have a minor oil leak that is kinda bugging me. I've been told that it is my rear main seal and maybe my oil pan gasket. So I'm gonna get that fixed too and change my auto tranny fluid (yes it's an automatic) because my tranny has been a little jerky at start up when putting it into drive/reverse.
