Icon5 Question about pressing suspension bushings in/out

Hello all. I have been all over the interwebs checking out every thread about pressing suspension bushings on Preludes i can find and i still dont have an answer. Hopefully someone can help me. Here very soon i will be renting or buying a hydraulic press to remove my old, very tired stock suspension bushings, and press in my shiny new ES master kit bushings. I need to know if there is a kit or set of tools i need to attach to the press for pressing the different bushings in and out. If anyone has changed their own suspension bushings using a press please let me know what all i need. None of the threads ive come across reference what attachments/sockets/adapters are needed to safely and correctly press the sus. bushings in an out. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Question about pressing suspension bushings in/out

there is on kit to buy.

i have a hydraulic press and i use a couple of metal supports to hold in the control arms.

first step i use after the parts are off, is use small socket and press inner metal sleeve out of bushing.
second step, cut two slices through the rubber and outer metal sleeve to relieve pressure of pressed in bushing. (have to be careful to not cut into the arms)
third step, use punch and hammer and tap remainder of old bushing out.
fourth step, clean out where old bushing was and lube up new bushings.
fifth step, press each part of new bushing in.
sixth step, lube up metal insert and press in and wipe access lube.

its not the easiest and not the safest, but it gets the job done when i do it.
ive done several sets of energy suspension bushings on crx's and a couple on preludes without issues.

biggest things to remember is, its going to take time, be careful, and be creative in thinking of ways to use the tools you have to get it done.

Re: Question about pressing suspension bushings in/out

to go along with the hydraulic press, rent the ball joint press kit from advance auto, get the master kit, it has tons of different cup sizes. maybe a slide hammer kit too.
