93 Prelude over 200k with rebuilt engine.

Hello i'm looking at a 93 prelude with over 200k on the car, but it is suppose to have a rebuilt engine and a newer clutch. The seller doesn't have the paperwork on the work done to the car due to a few bouts of bad luck due to a breakup with a girlfriend, being kicked out of apartment and then finally having his car impounded for driving w/ a suspended license.
I'm going to look at the car tomorrow, but I was wondering if there is anything i should be looking for? I'm hoping the car is what he says it is and i'll finally get that prelude i've wanted for a while...love these cars

Re: 93 Prelude over 200k with rebuilt engine.

I've learned from experience that people with stories like that are usually lying and scamming.

If it's auto, they are notorious for failing. The water pump and timing belt should have been done at least twice. Listen for valve ticks and knocks. If it has a knock, you should walk. Valve tick can be fixed fairly easily in an hour or so. Make sure the body lines are good and it doesn't look like it was repaired from a wreck.
