Lowering and different rims.

Ok well first off I am a new Lude owner, I know nothing of these cars so bear with me. I want to lower my car, no lower than an inch or inch and a half I think(?), and also replace rims. The rims I want are these- Drag Wheels DR8177044073S - Drag Wheels DR-8 Silver Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com- and I am not sure if not only will these fit now but will it be an issue if I lower. Sorry if this is a dumb question I just dont know these cars at all.

Re: Lowering and different rims.

no those won't fit. you will need to search and research, but I'll go ahead and give you the lug bolt pattern, 4 lug 4x114.3

Re: Lowering and different rims.

Im reading up as much as possible. Thanks for the info also, everything I am finding on those rims say 4x100/4x114.3. With my very limited knowledge of these cars I thought they would fit, am I missing something? I appreciate your help I really do. :)

Re: Lowering and different rims.

Only certain offset and width will fit without modification. Search on this website theres a wheel fitment guide somewhere with everything you need to know.

I understand and I am not trying to be hard to get along with. This is a quote from what you are talking about and it seems to read that what I am looking at will fit. Is this accurate?

Quote:
7" Wide Wheels w/ 4th & 5th Gen

Less than +38mm ::: Not Recommended
+38mm to +41mm ::: Not Recommended if you are, or plan to be, lowered. You take the chance of rubbing the outside lip of the wheel well.
+42mm to +44mm ::: This is a grey area if you are lowered, results vary depending on tire and/or drop. You take the chance of rubbing the outside lip of the wheel well.
+45mm to +50mm ::: You shouldn't have any problems. Recommended Offsets for 7" Wide Wheels.
Larger than +51mm ::: Not Recommend. You take the chance of rubbing the inside lining of the wheel well.
It appears the rims I am looking at will fit but I have always had an issue with figuring rims for some reason.

i wouldnt reccommend a wheel adapter, y dont u just go to a tire shop and get them test fitted, before u buy.

sorry bud! I guess i need to take my own advice lol. I didn't get through the whole link you posted before I did. Yeah they SHOULD fit, but I would still try another rim on that has the same specs before you buy these. Mine are 16" with a 40mm offset and they are perfect to me, so I don't see why those would be any different, besides the one inch bigger diameter.

Those figures are for Prelude owners with no wedding tackle.

My current wheels have a +42 offset and I can d@mn near stick my fist between the tire and the lip of the fender. She's not exactly at stock height either. I'm bout to go even lower soon once I swap the stock top hats onto my coilovers, LOL.

And for the record, Drag wheels are STUPID heavy for their size. Most of them are upwards of 20# a pop.

Re: Lowering and different rims.

They will fit, it says 4x100mm /4.5, 4.5 is 4x114.3 mm. drags multi pattern wheels are normally 100mm/114mm weather they are 4 or 5 lug wheel.

Re: Lowering and different rims.

Thanks everyone for the help, I thought i was reading it right but I wanted to be sure. As for the weight of them I'm not going for speed right now really, I just got out of a 2006 GTO that had a 402 Stroker motor in it.

01prelude do you have a pic of how your car sits on those springs?

Re: Lowering and different rims.

01PreludePerformance, Not to butt in but I am interested in your springs if he isn't. I just purchased some 17in. Enkei's and all I need is a set of nice tires to wrap on them. Although I know that after I put them on they will have an akward, high stance with the stock suspension. If you could sell them PM a price including shipping to 63701... Thanks Luder!

Wheel weight isn't just about speed, to be honest.
