Power Antenna Grommet

Does anyone know where to find a replacement antenna grommet?

I bought a replacment whip from AntennaMastsRUs.com and it came with a new grommet and chrome cap nut, but the angle on the grommet is no where near correct.

The '92 I'm working on for my son not only had a broken power antenna but also a rot hole in the quarter at the antenna. I had to destroy the old antenna grommet to be able to remove the antenna and patch the quarter panel. Now that it's patched, I don't have a correct grommet to re-install the power antenna.

Re: Power Antenna Grommet

No, I cut out the bad section and welded in a patch. It's the 1st of many such patchings due for this car.

The frustrating part was I didn't find out that the replacement grommet didn't fit until after I'd cut the new opening in the patch that I just skim coated and epoxy primed. If I'd known about the grommet beforehand, I'd have left the fresh patch alone and talked my son into a hidden antenna (the kind that adheres to the inside of the rear window).

Now, because I've confirmed that a new replacement grommet is not available (even from Honda), I'm going to have to weld a new patch to close off the antenna hole, buy a hidden antenna kit and hope antennamastrus.com gives me a refund for the part I'm returning.

No. I was hoping to find the stock rubber grommet that is at the base of the stock power antenna. It's a moot point now as I've already given up and ordered a hidden antenna. I'll just weld a patch over the existing antenna opening.

Thanks for the offer but I'm already resolved to welding a patch in the antenna opening and installing a amplified 'hidden' antenna inside the car.

It's the best long term solution. The existing antenna, although the motor is still working, is in poor condition and would have to be modified to accept a new whip. Also, we live way out in the sticks, so an amplified antenna will help pull in weaker signals.
