98 H22a4 Swap time BUT Bearing Questions

Ok so I'm finally ready too go ahead with my swap and Sourced eveything I needed except for the Gaskets and Bearings (main and rods) Soo I did a search on ebay and a complete gasket set with bearings and belts Pops up for $180, BUT its listed as 97-01 prelude and I know that the main bearing sizes changed from 50mm-55mm

So my question is what do I order/ask for to asure I get the right size bearings?

It gives the option of sizes = std, 010, 020

Thnx in advanced

Re: 98 H22a4 Swap time BUT Bearing Questions

You have to determine if you need oversize or not. You have to measure the clearances with a mic and look in the manual for the service limits.

Re: 98 H22a4 Swap time BUT Bearing Questions

I researched and found out that in the 98 motors they went too the 55mm mains and idk? Why I would need oversized main bearings shouldn't they just be Standard size??

Oversized refers to the ID of the bearings.
He's talkin about the block journals (OD of bearing) are different; 50mm in 97 only, and 55mm 98+.

I supposed you could contact the seller and ask if he has any 97-only kits, with the 50mm mains.

to do it properly, you need to plastigauge the engine when its apart and then order the bearings per the plastigauge results
