Possible Swap

I've been thinking about swapping this in

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30017

I'm not worried about swapping the engine but auto to 5 speed is what trips me out. Been reading and everyone says its not that hard but still not too sure. If I get that set up from above, what else would I need? Pedal assembly?

I need some help guys!

Re: Possible Swap

everyone will tell you the same thing, SEARCH!

its all been in write ups and everything.

before you start asking questions, you have to ask yourself
How mechanically inclined am I?
Do I have a lot of experience with swapping motors?
Do I have friends that will help and know what they are doing?
Can I allow my car to be down for a while or does this have to be done quickly?

not meaning to sound like a dick by any means, really just trying to help. hope it did!

maybe someone will chime in with the actual links for the swap

^^^^^ Thank you. Like most will say. If you have to ask then you're not ready.

You can read this though if you feel like you'll be able.

Re: Possible Swap

I've definitely been reading, but I'm asking to hear it directly, especially from people who've done it before. I guess I want to see what others have to say about their swaps. If any of that makes sense...

I'm at the last steps now. I'm just trying to figure out what bracket mount I need for the drivers side and then it's just swapping out some wires in the harness.

That obd1 h22 will be a simple task compared to the obd2 h23 swap I'm doing. You'll just have to swap out a few parts from your old motor.

I'm not worried about the engine swap, it's just getting everything set up for the tranny, the pedals, cables and shifter. From what I read that's the hardest part.

so your taking the H23vtec to OBD1? i understand that you can use the H23 or H22 dizzy? but it has to be external coil? use the jdm injectors but USDM H22 H23 or F22 fuel rail will work? USDM starter with USDM flywheel? and if you dont already have it, run wires for VTEC? does that sum it up? am I missing a few or lots of things? again sorry bout the thread jack haha

the good part is that all of the cars (auto and manual) came from the same assembly line at one point or another, so all of the holes you will need are plugged, (hence easy to find) or they are pre punched from the factory. much like the front and rear bumpers are for the fog lights (front and rear) even tho USDM models didn't come with them as an option (front fogs might have been????)

That's what I thought, it should be fairly straight forward right once you get all the parts needed, right?

I keep hearing that it's easier to just buy a 5 speed, but it's nearly impossible to find a stock prelude that is clean. Sure mine needs paint but it's completely stock and I think it'd be fun to see all the new things to it.

^^^ You've got it. But unfortunately my car had a f22 in it (not sure why). So most of that stuff I'll be keeping. I'm keeping the internal coil, keeping the obd2 injectors with usdm aem fuel rail, using jdm starter, usdm flywheel, and as most people know the 92 didn't come wired for vtec so I'll be putting that in, h22 header/ downpipe, phearable chipped p28 ecu, and keeping the f22 tranny. It's a lot more work than I wanted to do and costs much more.
My swap is more of a restoration because this car was in bad condition.

Re: Possible Swap

right on!! and my car is also F22. I do plan to keep my motor, but I was wanting to swap it so that I will be able to build my F22 and just keep the H23vtec or H22 (haven't decided yet) for a daily. Big boost plans for the F ;)
