2.2 VTEC Project.

Hey guys / girls..

Recently joined the forum, done the usual intro in the new members area...

I have a 4th Gen, 2.2 Si import V-Tec..
As of the 19th of September i will be taking it off the road to restore / modify.

Just thought id share it with you all step by step...

I currently have another project going on (An ambulance conversion) so if the thread isnt updated regularly this is why.. Altho i have just put a bet on tonights football (English Soccer) so if i win on that i'll have some spare cash ;)

Basicly the 1st time i herd about a Prelude and its performance i immediately went out and brought one as they are quite cheap here in the UK compared to other cars..

My 1st buy was a bog standerd 4th Gen 2.2 V-Tec (Jap Import) when i was around 19... I kept the car for around 7-8 months before i decided to change it as it was getting to expensive to run...

2 years later i got a wage rise at work, so i went out and brought a 2nd hand S2000 with the 2.0 V-Tec engine in..

Around a year later the company i worked for went bust and i lost my job.. And the car...

3 years down the line i was in need of another car, so i went back to good old trusty.. The Prelude!

I was on a pretty tight budget as i had just spent pretty much all my savings on a holiday...

I found one on E-bay, it was quite close to home.. Mind you, 4 hours in a car gets you to any side of England :p

Went to view it, and brought it home the same day!

The owner had hand painted the whole bottom half bright Orange!

It looked a mess, but not an impossible job to get done..

Unfortunately i dont have any pictures of it when i 1st got it..

The close's thing i have is the following picture as i modding the front bumper...

Re: 2.2 V-Tec Project.

Any ways.. Enough of me going on...

Heres what it looks like at the moment...

She looks good at distance... But has some major floors...

A few weeks back, someone decided to reverse into my front bumper.. Leaving multiple cracks in the bodyfiller...

A few weeks before the front bumper someone hit my back bumper.. Leaving of all things and orange skid mark over the back end and the fog light loose..

It has a little rust coming through on both arches (the orange is a reflection)..

The back bumper had a section cut out, not sure why...

And a recent road trip to Majorca resulted in 2ft of exhaust pipe being crushed coming down a ramp on the ferry and a rock hitting my windscreen..

Over the next few months i will be resolving all the above problems...
Maybe change some of the features..
Giving the whole car a re-spray..
And im still in 2 minds of what i want to do with the car.. Keep the inside original and use it as a weekend car.. Or strip her out and use it as a road / track car..

Ive got a guy who welds and he's quite cheap, so i'll be letting him loose on the arches... Gonna get him to cut the old ones out and fit some new maybe slightly wider ones

Re: 2.2 V-Tec Project.

Hey guys, girl.. Etc..

Took the lude off the road today! Very sad, but happy to be able to start work on her!

Not done a great deal today, ive only took the exhaust system off.

The suspentions that stiff it cocks its rear wheels up when on jacks ;)

Heres the cat back section that got damaged coming off the ferry, its not as bad as i thought it was at 1st.

Prob the only part of the system i will be keeping...

I started to polish the tip, before realising its gonna get so dusty and dirty in the garage over the next few weeks..

I removed the cat by pass, thought id do a shot with the orginal cat next to it.

Final picture of the day, all packed away..

Tomorrow, i think i will be sanding and cutting the rust out of the back arches.
