Icon5 93 SI, beginner timing belt change?

ok so i am new to working on cars but i feel like i should change my timing belt on my 93 Lude SI automatic H23A1. i have 119k and want to make sure it stays running strong. if i could get help on parts i need or possibly kits.. and the difficulty of doing this task by myself.. i have done like my valve cover gasket, brakes, changed radiator and small stuff like that, think i can do it?

Honestly. Don't.

You have no business changing a timing belt, if you're asking. Get it done professionally, then research the parts, tools and digest the resource thread. It isn't a hard job, but get comfortable enough with tooling around your car beforehand.

I did my head gasket, timing belt, water pump, and radiator with zero prior experience. The timing belt was the only thing that went perfectly right... lol. as you know from my, "I raped my engine now it hates me" thread.

Re: 93 SI, beginner timing belt change?

Sure, I didn't say impossible, but some siezed bolts, broken/ belt covers, all types of hiccups you can't fix because you didn't know and now your car is off road and no one local has that part. Ask me how I know...

The procedure is face foward. The small details people neglect, not so much. Maybe I have bad luck.

Open an account at photobucket.com, upload photos, then use the [img------....] hyper links. It's easier than attachments.
