Icon5 Weird rubber plug ?!?

What's going on guys/ gals I was just doing a routine look over and I found this plug/rubber garmet thing just sitting on top of an engine mount by the header. It looks like it covers this opening on the engine and I'm not sure if it's important or not but check it out.

Re: Weird rubber plug ?!?

It's a timing plug cover. It's used for ignition timing. Removing it exposes your flywheel (if you drive a manual) and let's you view the TDC mark as well as a few others.

Re: Weird rubber plug ?!?

Is it important to have ? Like I said it was just chillin on my front mount and i just found it today after owning it for like 6 months so far. I'm just curious if it was bad to have not had it covered.

I'm in the process of moving and I haven't had the time to work on my car like that. I've only owned the car for like 6 months and the old owner didn't really appreciate the car. He didn't even know what an si-vtec was and he sold it to me for cheap.
