You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Yeah, why are they kinda brownish? I'm wanting to paint them black to match the trim of the car but is there anyway to remove them? Worse comes to worse I'd have to spray them while attached, but I'd rather not...

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

There should be two small 10mm nuts holding them on. Could just be faded from sitting in the sun. What year prelude is it?

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

I thought there were four 10mm bolts holding them on? Be careful while taking them off, I've broken a set of 94-96 nostrils. Good thing I prefer the 92-93.

They're that fragile? I have a 93 but for as long as I can recall theyve always been this shade. I just want them to be jet black haha

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

I know what you mean with the color bro mine are like that, came stock its hard to explain if your not looking at them though lol. But yes i believe there are 4 10mm bolts holding them on, nonetheless BE CAREFUL! Oh and if you don't wanna remove them just tape some paper around them and cover the car with towels or something and just spray them it wouldnt be too challenging IMO

Oh and yes they are fragile and if you break them you may have a hard time finding more or atleast paying a decent price for them.

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Easy to take off just be careful..

So there's a different between 92-93 and 94-96 nostrils? I think my 92 had one line in it and the others ones have 2?

I'm not sure why they came brown.. Black will look a lot better!

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Glad I'm not the only one haha. It's always bugged me. I'm gonna respray my stock side skirts, and want to do the trim. Esthetically, the black plastic against the driver and passenger side windows is chipped so I have to get it replaced. I also have to get the rusted plastic replaced on my rear window. Are there any options for me to do this besides the dealer?

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

^you talking about the little rear window? The trim and window are one piece (atleast with the 5th gen)

I want to replace mine..plus the black window trim on the front windows

Find out the part# from Honda and google it and see if you can find it somewhere else for cheaper.. You could also give the part# to a collision repair shop and see if they can get it cheaper

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Here's the trim on a random 4th gen that I'm talking about That and the black plastic at the bottom of this window are what I need replaced

I found the replacement window on ebay for at least one side. For some reason one side on my car is plastic but the other is some other texture. They don't match so I'm to assume one was replaced before.

^^^ the infamous 7mm LOL ^^^

At least it isn't 5.5mm...

Just paint it whole, grill plastics are flimsy. Especially after 18+ years.

The 7mm is an UAW size. the entire dashboard, grille, and interior doors parts of my suburban are this size. since NYC is the epicenter of GM/Chevy trucks (really) I had to backorder the 7mm... 2 weeks and 7.50 later (needed short and long in a 1/4" fit) Those are worth their weight in platinum!

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

What kind of paint should I use? I'm getting caliber specific paint for my calibers, and some sort of lacquer paint for my rims, but not sure what I should use to repaint the grills and the surrounding stock lip kit.

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Go to a paint shop or collision repair shop.. They will be able to paint them for pretty cheap and they will last.. Shop around though..

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Paint to match calipers, it'll look factory, unless you chose pink as the caliper paint. Or secondary color like the seats, beige on beige. If you look up "color wheels" you can see which combos would look right. Now I'm gonna look for mine lol!

I have a 92 and it has 4 nostrils but only 2 are holding it on. If you happen to break them I'll let you have the 4 extra I have that are worthless.

Re: You know the 2 front grills next to the headlights?

Sweet, thanks ProjectSi! I'm wanting to paint the calibers red. The only paint I figure would work is this caliber specific paint but it seems too bright. I want a darker tone. Any ideas gents?

The other issue I'm having is locating the wire for the antenna. I followed the guide in the DIY thread but the wire looks like it also connects to the tail light.....I want my antenna to be pretty small and not the giant mammoth it is when it's extended
