Random Vacuum Line?

So we just rebuilt my engine for the most part and it's running a little rough. We're not sure if this is unrelated, but I figured I would ask.

We have a vacuum line that is just hanging there, not connected to anything. It's coming from the end of a black box type deal under the intake.

Where does this go?

EDIT: I edited these photos to make it blatantly clear what I am referring to, but it seems that photobucket disagrees. Sorry.

It's the line stemming from the black box in the last photo.

When you have a chance, take a couple pictures farther back.

Okay here you go:

It is the line sticking straight up just to the left of the center of the photo. It is behind the vacuum actuator behind the fuel pressure regulator.

This is a video I just made as well. It feels like the engine is in time, but I cannot see the TDC mark on the flywheel no matter how advanced or retarded I make it. When we installed my new belt, everything was aligned?

This is what happens when I give it a little rev:

What's going on here?

Re: Random Vacuum Line?

Does your intake manifold still have the secondary butterflies?

Re: Random Vacuum Line?

I believe the line plugs into the back of the intake manifold and provides vacuum for the IAB system.

Re: Random Vacuum Line?

That's a good possibility, but I really couldn't find that without a direct photo of my application. Is there anyway you could show me where it goes on my h23? If I didn't see it once, I doubt I'll see it without being spoonfed, lol. I really appreciate the help.

Re: Random Vacuum Line?

Judging by your video, if hooking up the IABs correctly doesnt resolve your issue, id say check out your IACV. Could be connected wrong or clogged up.

Re: Random Vacuum Line?

as long as it's hooked up to a vacuum source, you'll be good. look for any nipples that don't have anything plugged in on the front/back/sides of the IM.
particularly look on the back of the IM, as well as the throttle body, there might be 1 or 2 nipples there.

Re: Random Vacuum Line?

Wow guys I appreciate it greatly. I'll be looking later tonight and keep you posted.

On an unrelated matter, we can't get my car timed? I'll explain.

We made locking pins to hold the cams UP. The exhaust UP mark is perfectly aligned with the locking pin we're using. The intake is another animal. For some reason, the UP mark is slightly pointing towards the exhaust side rather than aligned with it's own locking pin. What's going on here? I took the sprocket off and the key looks fine. We had both cams locked at UP and the No.1 piston held at TDC when we put the belt on, but now, while trying to do ignition timing, I can't see the timing mark on the flywheel no matter how advanced or retarded I make it. I'm at a complete loss and I haven't had my Lude for a month! Have mercy on me, I'm stuck driving a 95 Contour :(

The head gasket originally blew. So I put a new head set on it. Then we found out my radiator was shot. So we replaced that. Then after starting it for the first time in 2 weeks, my water pump was leaking! We did a timing belt component kit and a water pump. Then the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor went bad, so we replaced it last night! Now we can't get the timing right!!! This is my first "rebuild" and I just want my Honda back!
