Hytech Headers bought...now what?

Im a noob in the prelude world but I have a good friend that isnt and ive bought a hytech replica header, my only question is what is best now for the rest back to the exhaust. Test pipes are pretty loud, but from what I was told, this header will do away with my cat? I was wanting a greddy evo 2 exhaust next. What do you guys think is a good setup now from the headers back? Also I have this stupid rattling noise in my exhaust right now. Its a cheap aftermarket no name headers, exhaust, c pipe, OEM cat (brand new). The rattling is up where the c pipe hits the cat I think and resonates out my muffler. All bolts were tight as far as I could tell. I did the wrong thing and bought cheap crap and now I think im paying for it. From here on out I will be actually buying products that are healthy for my h22 though its already costing a pretty penny. thanks for help and opinions in advance.

2.5" or 3.0" in exhasut is your next move. Look into vibrant as well. they appear to be a quality brand and dont cost as much as apexi and greddy.

2.25" FTMFW. 2.5" takes away so much back pressure, trust me guys. Unless you're boosted, IMO, don't go more than 2 and a quarter. This is from personal experience too, not just talking out of my ass.

awww had to edit your post huh?

you must be pretty dumb if you havent seen or read anything about 3" on a na h22 then. you need to go back and read some more info on it before trying to call me out.

here you go "BRAH" start here.

poets, "Backpressure: destroying a myth," thread. - Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums

then finish here...

http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2197695

and the hits just keep coming...

Dyno Testing of a custom SMSP H22 4-2-1 Multi Piece Stainless header with 3" SMSP exhaust versus a Mugen 4-2-1 stainless header and a T1R 2-1/2" exhaust. Re: Hytech Headers bought...now what?

I would benefit from a 3" exhaust... my builder told me so when he was tuning. I wasn't switching exhaust parts for the 3rd time on that build.

this information is well known, has been for years.

my piping is 2 5/8 ID SS. that's good enough for most peoples N/A ludes.

problem with exhaust this big and bigger is, it's very noisy. just ask upsluder.

Re: Hytech Headers bought...now what?

Its cool im just giving you a hard time. I realzied that you said "header" in the actull post. But in regaurds to you exhaust, as stated 3in piping is great fro the H22 and can be ran on stock internals. It will net you big torq numbers... but it may make you lose a couple HP. but the torq you gain will more than make up for it. But the best way to utilize the new header and exhaust is with a tune.

Re: Hytech Headers bought...now what?

I dont want an obnoxious loud exhaust so a cat back invidia is what im leaning towards. it is 3.9 tip 2.3 piping. sooooo do I remove my cat and get a test pipe ...or leave it on. If im correct leaving it on will lower the performance a tad?

Re: Hytech Headers bought...now what?

+1 for that 3in, as mine has a 2.5 collector and 3in to the muffler. It's vital that the collector is 2.5in and no bigger, that backpressure is needed. But after the collector, the job is done, and you can literally not have any pipe after that and not lose any power / torque.

Currenty running; Hytech header (2.5 collector), megaflow cat, vibrant res, 3in universal steel piping, apexi n1 3in inlet muffler. The car is loud when you're on it, real loud, not so much just cruising.
