New Member, Problems :(

Hey guys! i'm brand new to these forums and i just bought my prelude about 2 weeks ago. I bought it knowing it needed some work, its a 1992 Prelude Si(manual of course! :)). The major issue i am having right now is a check engine light (code 43), so last week to try and fix it i went in and put a new fuel filter in. It runs smoother now but i am still getting the check engine light. The thing about it is that my engine is staying cool (it never goes higher than half on the display), and the light isn't on RIGHT when i start it up. The check engine light only appears after i have driven about 1 or 2 miles. And when it goes on, i feel as though the engine wants me to stay below 3,000 rpm's. The reason i say that i feel that it "wants" me to stay below 3 grand is because everytime i go above 3,000 rpm's i feel a loss in engine power so i have to downshift and then it jerks so i shift back up and its good for a while longer. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Oh i also put seafoam in my last fillup so i'm hoping that maybe that will help to clean out my fuel injectors. Only other major problem is that the radiator is pretty much shot, but i don't think that would be causing the issues that i'm having.

THANKS GUYS! and like i said, ANY suggestions/advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: New Member, Problems :(

it could be your FPR. Try and disconnecting the hose on top of it and see it runs better

Code 43 is one of the trickiest CELs to resolve. It could be any part of the fuel system. If you have a friend with a OBD1 h23a1 that doesnt have a CEL problem try swapping parts on from his/hers and hope you find your culprit when the car runs right.

Good choice with the fuel filter, i also had this problem and like ive told many people change out the distributor because thats what helped me. Though try the other things people mentioned first because there less expensive lol
