Energy Suspension Boots

I have two front upper ball joints with completely destroyed boots. I ordered the Energy Suspension boot kit for my car and the boots fit very nicely. My question is in securing them. They are much larger than the stock boots and the retainer ring will not fit around them. What can I do to secure these? My friend told me to run a little wire around it and twist it tight?

Re: Energy Suspension Boots

that will work, or a ziptie. I'd be more inclined to find out exactly why they don't fit, rather than just rig them

Re: Energy Suspension Boots

Well they do fit. Better than OEM even. It's just that they are much thicker than the originals and the little "keyring" type ring won't fit around them. I was pretty aware of this before purchasing because the originals have a groove in them and these do not. I just figured since it was such a popular company, someone had to have ran into the same issue at one point. My friend had the same one on his CRX. They don't make model specific boots, just make specific. I ordered the Honda/Acura set and didn't think twice, but judging by how amazing they fit, I would say they were intended for my car. I can provide pictures if I'm not being clear. I just would rather secure these than hope the spindle holds them tight, lol.

Re: Energy Suspension Boots

hose clamps. go to your local hardware store or home store for various sizes. this is the best way to hold them in place.

Re: Energy Suspension Boots

That was my first thought too. Thanks for confirming it. You can close this if you want.
