Engine question?? Im a bit stuck

So Im trying to figure out my best options on my lude. Its a 96 needs an engine, im currently rebuilding a h23 just because I just wanted to get it running. But looking in to swapping for a H22 i dont want to run into problems. #1 is the car is an obd2 and i dont want to use an obd1 engine because thats nothing but a headache. I want it to be as plug and play as possible. So with that being said can I use a H22a4 from a 5th gen?? If I can, what will I need? What ECU will i need? Am I going to have a problem with the immobilizer if I do use the 5th gen ecu? Its next to impossible to find a 96 H22a. I dont care if its a h22a1, doesnt really matter to me. but in the meantime im just going to continue building the H23. My plans for the car is just to have a low mileage clean stock prelude. i dont want to do any modifications to it. I'm even keeping the stock airbox. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

This is alot better option than an h22. You'll have to change out all the same things anyways so you might as well go with something a bit better. Tiger Japanese - Home as for the ecu, I would run a phearable.net it will be the best imo

Re: Engine question?? Im a bit stuck

P13 is obd1 and you'll need obd2. The p73 will have more tuning capabilities

Re: Engine question?? Im a bit stuck

hmmm I'm thinking im sticking with the h23a1 for now. just so i can drive it for gas mileage right now. Im sick of putting gas in a V8 hog. Now i just need to find a good deal for piston rings and bearings. Thanks for the info, maybe ill get a h23a and build it for boost for next year.

Also, what do folks think about rebuilding a H23. Is it a bad idea?

Mahle pistons, balanced factory crank and after market rods and your in business. For fwd your gonna have a hell of a time hooking up at 400hp+
