What to do next?!?!

Hey guys Ive kinda hit a small mental block about where to go from here...I've already finished up intake/headers/exhaust...and later this week I'm getting a p72 chipped then tuned...but Im kinda lost on where to go from there? I was thinking of an intake mani like skunk or euro R but I've read it's not really gonna benefit without some headwork? I want more power but don't know where it will be smart to start I could do cams but I know I would need valve springs retainers such and such and would the bottom end hold up if I threw in cams? so where would be the best place to star thanks a bunch guys

Re: What to do next?!?!

You can put in Skunk2 stage 1 cams without upgrading the valve train and you should be fine. Do not get the Skunk2 intake manifold unless you are going turbo, you would probably see some gains from the Euro-r without any head work wait on James (biglegs) to tell you for sure because he is getting his without any head work. You do not need to worry about the bottom end when working on the head you could do a full build of the head an not touch the bottom end, not that I recommend that though.

And can I asked you what intake/header/exhaust setup you have? Because upgrading those to better ones might be a better way to increase your power, lots of people screw up with i/h/e.

Cool...I'll be sure to check on that euro R for sure. Also what kind of gaines would I be looking at with the stage 1 cams? Would it be worth the price I'd pay to get them?

Right now I'm currently running an AEM carb legal short ram intake...carb legal DC ceramic headers and downpipe and last a Tenabe hyper medallion catback exhaust with 2.5 inch piping (mandrel bent)

Re: What to do next?!?!

First upgrade you should do then is the Hytech replica header, it is about $400 but is proven to give you around 10whp gains and your DC header is proven to give you about 0whp gains lol. Then I would look into the Euro-r, I do not think stage 1 is really worth it and I think it would be better to get valve springs and retainers (and valves if you want) and get the tuner stage 2 cams, then I would really be pushing you to get a tune.

I'm defiantly gonna look into
The hytech replica header question about the cams if I go with stage 2 get new valve springs retainers and everything else what would I need to do to the bottom block to keep up with the head?

Re: What to do next?!?!

LIke I said earlier you can keep the bottom end completely stock but if you bump the compression a little you will make the car happy, you can do this through your head gasket, high comp valves, pistons, or milling the head.

I personally went with pistons, high comp valves, and milling the head and should have around a 12:1 cr. I am waiting to put in the cams though.

Re: What to do next?!?!

Your gonna wanna look over at Prelude Power, there is also someone who knows a company that makes one on this site, diamond lude I believe $400 shipped for one I believe, they aren't sold like normal headers and it might take a little to find one, they might sell it on some site that UPSluder got his through also, look at his build thread to figure that out.

3in exhasut, type S pistons (will not have to resleeve), grab a drimmel and port the TB and intake manifold, should net you some good power. the DC head you have really isnt going to do much either other than look nice BTW.

I know this is legit because this is where I got mine. I paid $320 shipped and my only regret was forgetting to wipe the finger grease off with rubbing alcohol before a few hot/cold cycles.

I don't think you are supposed to link outside the forum so I won't. Here is what you do: Goto preludeonline.com, create an account, goto the forum section of the website and scroll down until you see "PreludeOnline.com Group Buys". It is the only current group buy, and it's called "Private Label MFG Power driven Headers H-series". Post on the forum that you want to buy the tri-y header and subliminalitr, the guy running the group buy, will process the transaction. I said to post on the fourm because I don't know if you can PM without a minimum amount of posts or not, if you are able to PM him it would work just fine as well.

Many others will tell you to goto Kronn because he has a group buy on preludepower.com. I went to Kronn 1st when I needed a tri-y and he just sent me to subliminalitr, so just save yourself the trouble and goto the source.

Tri-y / hytech replica is probably your best choice that is under $1k new to actually see gains.

I have more advice:

If you are looking for a little more throttle response and some extra midrange power you should acquire a Rosko Euro-R H22 IM. They are prepped to bolt-on easier than any other aftermarket IM I can think of. Read about it on the website you can find it with google. They really are the way to go.

Before ordering your IM you should get a 68mm-ish TB to pair with it. I'm not sure if you can really go "too big" or not with a TB, others may say get a 70 or 74mm TB but that seems excessive to me. But say you get a 68mm TB you can get Rosko to portmatch the IM before shipping it so it matches with the TB. The bigger TB's usually taper down to 68mm from what I've seen anyway.

The advice is good about not getting S2 IM unless boost, or maybe a high revving N/A. Also, the advice about building the head is good stuff. S2 Pro2 cams are great and bumping the compression with high comp valves and thinner hg is good. If you don't mind getting into the bottom end a little it would be really nice to get those type-s pistons that start your compression at 11:1, but if you don't want to you don't have to if you do the other things. If you did maybe you could go with pro3 cams??

I would probably disagree with taking a dremel to port anything unless you have prior experience. I personally wouldn't mill the head because if you ever change direction you can never put that metal back on the head.

Edit:
You also are going to want to tune again after getting the IM and TB. If I we're you I would hold off on the tune until I got that stuff in and only tune once.
