CF trunk w/ system??

Ok, so I have a carbon trunk made by VIS. I've searched and come to find out, there are alot of people who don't know a damn thing about carbon trunks and hoods. I know that its just one layer of carbon fiber on top of layers of fiber glass (so its not that strong)

My question is this; Does anyone think I will be ok with just a 10" running around 500 watts?

The reason I ask is because of the screws and the latch. There is no kind of metal that the bolts screw in to, so I have some worries that it will not be strong enough to hold due to the vibrations I would have with a system (mind you, its not going to be a big system at all)

I would really like you guys/gals with experience to chime in.
Also would love to hear about some problem solving solutions to this (if need be)

Cheers!!

Re: CF trunk w/ system??

Maybe some thin sheet metal with holes drilled matching the diameter of the bolts over the trunk mounting holes, jb welded to the trunk lid or something, so that the screws have some metal to hold on to?

You will have zero issue with that caliber of subwoofer. Not even a concern. If You REALLY are worried, remove your rear speakers. To vent the sound into the cabin. That's what I would do anyway.....but, you don't need to worry about ruining your trunk or it popping open.

I'm running two 12" subs and 2000watts with out a prob. Plus the VIS lid does have metal, the bolts screw into metal nuts that are fiberglassed in the lid. You'll be fine with a 10" sub, if your really wooied about it go ahead and remove the rear speakers to releave the trunk pressure but it won't be nessisary.
