Transmission Help!

I am currently quoting out everything i will need for my build (will be swapping too H22, aswell as other things)

here is my problem, the car originally has an H23, after all the owners shes had (im the 12th... who knows why :'( ) she was switched to an F22.. here is my problem, I read that if the f22 tranny is used with the H22 engine, the gears will be too long so I will fall out of vtec.. so I proceeded to go check the tranny for the code, my problem, the sticker is not there... am I just blind? I looked everywhere, what if it fell off? what do I do now? I was hopping the H23 tranny is still in there, so I can just swap the engine and call it a day..

I think I found a way... at about 120 km/h im around 3-3.5k rpm I think, it was a while ago.. car isn't road worthy ;O

so maybe if people can tell me the speed their going on the highway and what tranny they have it could possibly work???

any help is appreciated

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Transmission Help!

what gear? that makes a difference.

I've never worked with vtec, so this is just a thought, but with the way vtec works, I dont think you'll "fall out of vtec". Seems like you'll just be in vtec longer. It might take a fraction of a second longer to get TO vtec, but i dont think it will matter if its a DD.

Re: Transmission Help!

ya, you do fall out of vtec. stock it kicks in at 5.5k so if when you shift from 1st to 2nd your rpms fall to lets say 3.5, youre outta vtec.

OP we need more info as well

Re: Transmission Help!

what info do you need? I cant drive the car at the moment, isnt road worthy.. but i could take the car around the block if you need speeds and rpm readings

I want my lude to be a DD, but also be able to go to track events, so me falling out of vtec is a big deal!

And im in 5th gear

Re: Transmission Help!

at 65-70 mph on a h22 tranny you shoud be around 3200-3500rpm thats in 5th gear... and yes you will fall outta vtec with the f tranny, the gears are to long unless u delete the rev limiter, which is stupid becuz ur on a stock motor right? if u need help hit me up. i know with a f tranny when youre doing 70mph youre at like 2800rpm in 5th gear, hope this helps, and if ur going for track=all motor car? get a jdm h22 tranny, shorter gears, if u want a built turbo lude use the f series tranny, longer gears

Re: Transmission Help!

I dont have the funds to do a complete swap, thats why I was hopping I could just swap the engine and have the H23 tranny still inside, im kind of thinking the H23 tranny is still in there, just not entirely sure

I thought if I was to go turbo an H23 tranny would be better?? hmm

If the battery is still alive tomorow, ill take it for a spin around the block and get 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear speeds with rpms

Re: Transmission Help!

Sounds alot like boost.

So here's the question, is coming out of vtec every time you shift and then getting back in it after it gets back to 5.5k bad enough for you to spend 6-800 on a new tranny?

Re: Transmission Help!

Its just kind of irritating! car has a f22b in it, would like to keep it.. but not worth it since its leaking oil and throwing engine codes at me >:(
