Cat delete/Exhaust setup

READ BEFORE FLAMING!

I realize there is a search function, trust me, I've been here long enough. Too bad our search function is about as useful as having gasoline to put out a fire. I searched "cat delete" and apparently "delete" is too common of a search so it excluded those results... Then I tried "cat remove, catalytic converter removal, ect..." Our search function fails.

Here's my inquiry:

My exhaust is failing miserably. My friend and I installed a DC header with no issue. It sounded much better, but the gaskets blew out (didn't replace them, couldn't afford it at the time). So, we recently took off the header/down pipe. Then discovered the only thing holding my exhaust off the pavement was hopes and dreams... All the gaskets were fried and the cat/down pipe gasket literally crumbled in my hands. So, I installed new manifold/down pipe ring gaskets because I had them. I didn't have a cat gasket because I didn't expect it to be fried. So we just clamped my exhaust together as tight as possible. It surprisingly sounds amazing. Due to the cat gasket having been fried and bonded to my downpipe (roughly 1 inch opening left...), I want to replace some things.

That's the background info. Now, my exhaust scrapes everything (I'm lowered). So we bought and installed new hangers and such. The exhaust is secure as ever, but still scrapes? So we're going to modify the hangers to hold it higher in the meantime.

I really want to re-do my exhaust due to recent discoveries. My stock down pipe is beat to crap now because the Dc header pushed it downward ~3 inches and it scraps horribly. My thoughts: Get a new down pipe and have a few inches removed under the header flange for clearance. While that is going on, I wanted to do the 2.5" collector mod. I need a new hi-flow cat (no test pipe, I hate rice). Any suggestions on which cat to get at 2.5"? Or, I was going to delete it, but I'm afraid it will get throaty and ricey. I have a Sankei 4070 resonator that makes my exhaust extremely quiet and amazing sounding. It's stock diameter though and I'm concerned that 2.5" would be useless with a 2.25" bottle neck resonator. My muffler is also great sounding (brand unknown) and it's stock diameter.

My questions in a nutshell:

1.) Will my car sound ricey without the cat?

2.) Will my resonator and muffler bottleneck my 2.5" efforts?

3.) Is it plausible to remove some material from the down pipe for clearance?

4.) Which hi-flow cat would someone recommend?

5.) How much should I expect the cost to be for all this work?

6.) Where can I get a cheap down pipe?

I can include a video with sound if needed to asses my issue.

1) Possibly. It is impossible to tell before hand, to be honest.
2) Yes. Sorta. Depends on where you want your powerband. lol.
3) Depends. You can chop the section that runs down the motor and weld it back together, and that should suck it upwards a bit.
4) Magnaflow. Cheap, readily available in a wide variety of styles on Summit.
5) Varies on what all has to be done.
6) eBay

I like my power band to be around 4k. I just want to know what the muffler and resonator will do in terms of power restriction. I really dig the sound of my exhaust, so I was trying to keep them, lol.
