Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

Intake, header, exhaust, would be your best bet to start with. Or swap in an h22

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

Intake doesn't really matter, it's a filter on stick pretty much. Headewise I'd go with a hytech replica for about $400 and exhaust go with a 2.5 inch cat back.
I recently got my exhaust done for $80 at a local exhaust shop.

2.5" tubing stock, install, and everything is what I got from his post. Thats what "done" usually means.

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

How much power are you looking for?

Intake/header/exhaust- won't gain too much with just these but it's important to help the "open" flow of the engine if you plan on making more hp

If you want a lot of hp and want a turbo..the setup is different and you'd waste money buying a header_ so u need to get an idea of how much hp you want..

I would put an H22 in there if the H23 ever goes out just because there's way more parts available for the H22 from what I've always heard

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

H23 + boost!

You can piece together a decent turbo setup for >$1500

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

You could do what theses guys say or even just rebuild your block a little and put a h22 head on your h23. Or even go with a jdm h23a vtec which is what I did to mine and I'd say it was the best choice I've ever made. Just be looking to spend around $2000 for the swap because it's an obd2 engine.

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

get the head ported and polished.
get a hondata heat shield intake gasket.
bigger throttle body.
higher compression pistons.
get an ecu and get it tuned.
that is if you want to stay naturally aspirated of coarse.

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

im just looking to add power more than the swapping factor but i have a buddy that tells me it would be a good idea to keep the H23 block and just put an H22 vtec head on it. I AM PLANNING ON ADDING A TURBO EVENTUALLY so anyu comments will help. like i sed i am very new to this kind of stuff

Re: 92 Prelude Looking to add power under the hood!!

if you want to go turbo then just sell your motor and buy a f22.... take the extra money and put it towards your turbo.
