Headlight Help!

Ok i've been looking around PZ and I haven't been able to get much help, so here's the problem:

When I turn on my headlights they will sometimes take about a second to turn on (rarely happens). Also, when I am driving they will sometimes go out for about 5 seconds and I usually start messing with the light switch until it works and if it doesn't I have to pull over and wait.

I would really appreciate any help.

Re: Headlight Help!

Mine would sometimes decide to go on and off on my pass side while driving. When I braked it would go on then go off.

Turned out when I put on my CAI I took off the ground for the headlight. I grounded it with a random screw to the metal frame and viola...fixed :D

might wanna check that..?

Re: Headlight Help!

I had issues with my headlights cutting out. I drove one night until they went out, i pulled over with my flashlight in hand, and tapped on the headlight relay in the underhood fuse box with the switch in the full on position. The headlights popped back on. I got a new relay from napa on the way home and now my headlights work like a charm every time 3 months on.

Re: Headlight Help!

Thanks, frankyjmr. I checked the ground to the lights but they seem to be pretty good. Do you know if there is any way to test the headlight relay?

Re: Headlight Help!

I had a 79 Mustang with the same problem once. It ended up being the plastic turn signal/dimmer switch assembly ring in the steering column had cracked and was causing faulty connections.

Re: Headlight Help!

Thanks guys. I had a friend check it out and I'm guessing it's time for a new relay.
