3k rpm curse

Has anyone figured out this issue? No power or hesitation while driving.

I've read countless threads on this issue and there has not been any resolve. Or, the op just didn't care to share the solution since he didn't feel a need to because his issue is no more.

93 vtec

Did Tune up, oil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, o2 sensor, cleaned out egr valve, ports, seafoam. Just passed smog with flying colors.

It happens at operating temp, 3k-4k rpm.

No cels

Anyone?

Thinking of unplugging egr sensor tomorrow to see if there's any change.

Thanks.

Re: 3k rpm curse

Check your valve timing, does your engine make head noises?

Re: 3k rpm curse

I wouldn't know what those noises are. Typical valvetrain chattering im assuming it sounds like because I just bought the car, and am not familiar with what is typical head noise. Otherwise, there isn't anything that is of concern...then again, what do I know.

Re: 3k rpm curse

If it keeps making like a clicking noise, or sounds like the rpms change during idle slightly, it'll be your valves, you usually have to tune them every 50k-80k miles. You can go to the Honda Dealership and they do a full tune and everything for around $85. Don't know what else it could be unless I could hear it for myself. Hopefully this helped.

You maean a valve adjustment. I'm sure she needs it..

But my idle is fine, no jumps.. nice and stable, at very low Rpm.

Thanks for the info.

Re: 3k rpm curse

yup, get a valve adjustment (or do it yourself). fixed my hesitation in the 3-4k rpm range.

Re: 3k rpm curse

Thanks for posting this man, I'm having the same issue with my H22A and havn't gotten an answer either. I feel like if it was a valve adjustment there would be a CEL, and you stated you don't have one and neither do I. I'm also experiencing the lag at 2.5-3k which is more of the range I tend to stay in so it sucks to have to feel it constantly and not know what it is. Hopefully these guys are right and it is a valve adjustment so I don't waste any money on an o2 sensor.

Well, if you get to it first..report back. I just bought the damn car and spent s lot of money already. I have to recuperate before I fork out money towards valve-timingbelt-waterpump.

Re: 3k rpm curse

I'll be bringing my car to the place I got the engine swapped at on Wednesday or Thursday to have them check it out, specifically for a bad o2 sensor and valve adjustment. Will report back when I hear from them.

I'm really tired of people telling me there's nothing wrong with my car after they drive it. My dad, a dumb ass mechanic, and another dumb ass friend who had an H22A swapped Civic until he totalled it.

Re: 3k rpm curse

I don't think it's a valve adjustment. If that was the case you would hear alot of knocking sounds coming from the head.

This problem happened on my accord. Found out I installed the ignitor shield in my dizzy backwards. What was funny was that Honda helms manual said to check that first...like they knew about it being put on wrong lol.

That makes some sense.. to me it seems like a spark-timing issue. I remember way back when a friend washed his engine bay and didn't cover his dizzy and got some water in the cap. This is the same kind of hesitation I remember it doing.

Ignitor shield? I'll have to look into it.

Now all i need are pictures to compare to see if its correctly installed.

That's my initial take on this.

Unfortunately, I don't have a dizzy or the cash laying around to do a mere test.

Let us know what u find.

Re: 3k rpm curse

My car has this. I took it to get the valves adjusted because I'm not totally capable. Ended up screwed. I paid the guy $100 to tell me he couldn't adjust it because the valve seat was too worn...

Re: 3k rpm curse

i still say its the dizzy problem. if your car is able to function without going past 3k and NO CELS, i would shoot for the spark problem.

BUTTTTT also to my knowledge if the valves are TOO TIGHT, it can restrict power to go past 3k. get that checked too
