Re: new speakers

Make new screw holes either in the speaker basket or in the plastic of the speaker mount. Super easy.

Re: new speakers

You may need to put new holes in the plastic of the speaker mount. The magnets may hit the torsion rods that help hold up the trunk when open.

Yeah I forgot about that. You've got next to no clearance there. I had to use shallow mount Polk speakers in mine. They sound fantastic though.

Re: new speakers

I was actually thinking about making another mount that the speaker mount can go on but could still fit the same holes in the car

Re: new speakers

You'll find that it's nearly impossible due to the shape of the rear deck. You have no room between the deck and the rear glass to move the speaker up higher to clear the springs for the trunk. You're gonna need shallow speakers lol.

Re: new speakers

Hit up your local custom car stereo installers shop and get speaker spacers. I got spacers for my rear 6.5s that easily clear the torsion rods for the trunk. I have some pioneer speakers with big ass magnets and clearance is not an issue. You can then use the factory speaker screw holes to screw into the spacer and hold it all in place.

Does it fit with the factory grille though?

The spacers i have dont aim to work with the speaker grills. I used some velcro to hold the grills onto the metal rim on the outside of the speaker. Kinda ghetto, but no one other than those that read this know about it and it works fantastic.

Re: new speakers

I thought that you'd run into grill to glass space issues. Interesting.
