timing belt ? H23A1

Okay, looking at buying a timing belt and the one I was looking at has two belts in the kit. Is the other the balancing shaft belt? Description below in bold of the second belt. I sent an email asking the vendor and they said I needed both, but didn't tell me if it was the balancing shaft belt...which is what I asked. Thanks for any input!

Gates Blue Racing Timing Belt Kit. Kit contains T216 and T186. T216 Specs (127 Teeth, .945" (24mm) Top Width, .375" (9.5mm) Pitch, 47.625" (1210mm) Pitch Length). T186 Specs (70 Teeth, .63" (16mm) Top Width, .375" (9.5mm) Pitch, 26.25" (667mm) Pitch Length.)

Okay, thanks for the info. That is what I figured and asked them, but they couldn't answer it. Go figure!

I read somewhere that Gates makes Honda's OEM belts and I prefer OEM products. But, getting a good price on the Gates Racing.....would anyone NOT use it?

Re: timing belt ? H23A1

i got an amazing deal on a full oem honda kit from cflhonda. includes

timing belt
balancer belt
2 acc belts
all the cam seals front seals
balance shaft seal
balance shaft tensioner
balance shaft retainer kit
timing belt hydraulic tensioner
water pump and gasket
valve cover gasket

all for 430 bucks. came in original unopened honda packaging. this is the list of materials you need to do a full service. you could use a few other things like valve cover grommets and spark plug seals as well but ive never had an issue reusing the old ones. dont make the mistake of just changing the timing belt or balancer belt. it wont help if the parts that hold it together fail because you didnt change them. as some know the balance shaft seal can fail and empty your crankcase of oil in a hurry, not just leak but empty. there are comparable aftermarket kits on fleabay but to save 60 bucks on something so important just doesnt make sense.

Re: timing belt ? H23A1

150K on engine. My head ended up being cracked. Got a good deal on a head rebuilt by a local machine shop for another guy with a Prelude. Guy didn't pick it up, didn't pick it up, they called him for 4 months and finally he picked up a call and told them he didn't even have the car anymore. So, they sat on a rebuilt head for X months and I bought it for the parts they put into it $200.
Do you have a link for the $430 kit by chance?? I would appreciate it.
Also, I noticed it says hydraulic tensioner on that list. I didn't think you wanted a hydraulic tensioner, or is that just on the H22s?

Re: timing belt ? H23A1

yes the tensioner was for an h22. got to ebay, search 92 prelude timing belt and its the most expensive kit you can buy if you sort the listing by price. the seller is cflhonda in cali. from my experience, he was an outstanding dealer
