rice bounce

Hey guys.

I remember back in the day I used to have an ef, the previous owner had some eBay sleeve coilovers on. The car was slammed and it was bouncy as hell. It was my beater car only so I didn't care and sold it after a few months

I recently bout a 93 vtec. Its all stock, this car I just bought in lieu of the damn gas prices, and pure fun.. I was wondering if I put something like some $300 skunk2 coilover sleeves/springs-only on it, will I have that same annoying bounce if I don't lower settings all the way down?

I just want the car to have a good stance, flush or finger space with 16's.

Or do I have to get the whole dampening kit? I just want the car to look nice. Don't really care about performance, although my wife drives this car sometimes because she misses her integra; I don't the car to be bouncing all over the place when drives the car.

Foremost, I don't want to put in too much money into the car since it was bought to save me money in the first place. I don't want to be stuck with lowered springs because, with my luck- California cops/chp love me.

Re: rice bounce

eBay = Cheap
Skunk2 = Not Cheap
The car shouldn't bounce with a respectable suspension.

Re: rice bounce

i'm rocking the skunk2 springs now. not alot of bounce, def not any where near cheap springs. i would HIGHLY recommend getting some adjustable shocks tho. after a while your stocks will start to make a bunch of irritating noise.

Skunk sleeves are junk. Get real coilovers. Don't be a b!tch about it.

Re: rice bounce

For the price, ride height, a ride the f&f's are a good cheaper choice..

I don't know which is cheaper but they are both decent..

Adj coilovers are best but are a little pricey.. But worth it..
Teins are gangsta..

I just know that a lot of people that want to slam their ludes have either f&f's or fully adjustable coilovers

Re: rice bounce

The bounce SOLELY has to do with the shock/strut/damper whatever you prefer to call it. Even a cheapo eBay coil can be tamed by enough damping. You could buy the most highend coil in existance but if your shock is blown its going to ride like a lumber wagon.

DING DING!

He's right. If the damper can't slow the spring's movement, it's going to ride like donkey ass. As you get stiffer springs, you need stiffer dampers. Stock won't cut it.

Re: rice bounce

So overall, its wisely to get dampers/shocks to accommodate the quick response of the non stock spring rate.

Thanks guys. I'll look up f&f, never heard of them before.

One of the guys at weksos quoted me $550 for the Type-1 Form&Function coilovers.

Re: rice bounce

Man, that is too steep for my "form and function". Well, I'll probably just go with skunk or gc if they are priced moderately in comparison. Will also look into struts. Thnks all, worse case I just leave her be stock height. Funk it.

Re: rice bounce

lowering your car on stock struts, regardless if its on springs or coilovers (sleeves), your asking to just prematurely blow out your shocks, get the bouncy ride AGAIN, then hafta rip all the suspension out AGAIN to change shocks.

don't be a cheapass, do it right the first time. or else...

Re: rice bounce

I have KYB AGXs set on #3, Skunk2 coilovers, and the ES poly bushing master set and for me its perfect. I only get some bounce if the road is tore up for a constant distance. Ive had 3 different girls in the car without one complaint.

Which one? The EZ Street series? I've heard they're garbage. Comparing apples to apples here, I think the Type-II F&F coilovers are in the same league as the Megan Street coilovers.

lol no offense, but I can't possibly tell from a sig pic

I don't really care about authentic vs replica unless there's something substantially different between the two. Like Rota Subzero vs Racing Hart CP035. Not a huge difference either in design or materials. Racing Hart doesn't exactly have a good batting average with me though, so the price difference is really a good thing lol.

Now, in matters like iPod vs Chinese iPod clones, there's no comparison lol.
