Brake/ABS lights coming on at random?

I have a 92 lude with some interesting problems. The BRAKE light on the dash comes on when it wants to. Sometimes when I start the car, sometimes while driving, sometimes not at all. Even when its on on it's own it will get a little brighter if I actually apply the e-brake. When it isn't on on its own it still works properly when I apply the e-brake.

I'm not sure if it's related, but the ABS light does the same thing. It comes on when it wants to, stays on for a while, and goes out.

Does anyone have an idea as to what this could be? A short in the wiring maybe? I doubt it could be a fuse since it's just those two lights... all of the other lights function as they should.

Thanks for any help!

Please GAWD tell me you are joking!!??

ROFL... I will give you two guesses and one of them is not yes.
Does the rotational O2 Sensor on the orbital flywheel whowidgit also regulate tire pressure?

.
but who am I to be surprised at this ludicrous answer from someone with a puerile user name like that?

Re: Brake/ABS lights coming on at random?

so, by your own submission, you predicate false information yet defend your capitulation with a smarmy answer?

I DID give the OP the answer. This is a troubleshooting thread, albeit lacking in detail, so until said OP can provide a definitive scenario (aka his own progression of troubleshooting results) the answer is to read. I even gave him the page number.

p.s. "Great One" will do but most call me "bitch" -

Re: Brake/ABS lights coming on at random?

i had the same problem a month ago and it was just low on brake fluid. i filled it up and haven't had a problem since. when your brake fluid gets really low, the computer automatically shuts off your ABS causing the light to kick in too.
hope this helps
