Finally getting a new Lude.

Well after a while of consideration and hopefully selling my old car soon, I might be getting a '93 Lude Si, it's coming from a dealer, and apparently has had the head gasket replaced, but the body is in great shape.

Now the main question I need help with, is there any signs I should be looking for, with regards to the dealership replacing the head gasket correctly? Are there any signs, maybe a sound or something that I should look for that would tell me to stay away from this purchase?

Re: Finally getting a new Lude.

find out everything about the history of the car, get them to give you a carfax on it and make sure thats clean. as far as the head gasket goes i would want some sort of proof that it was done and just for your safety i would see if there was some kind of warranty you could get with it as well. what kind of dealership are we talking about...when i think dealership i think new cars and some trade ins...but i want to make sure we're not talking about a buy here pay here car lot, if thats the case i would almost already be inclined to tell you to walk away from it

Re: Finally getting a new Lude.

Man last sentence killed me lol, it is a buy here pay here.
Thanks for the advice, I'll check the car out, but I'll def. do all of what you said.

The car looks to be in great shape, well taken care of, and completely stock, hard to find that around here in So. Fla. so I def. gotta check it out, hopefully it's not a lemon.

Thanks again for the advice, if there's anything else please let me know.

Re: Finally getting a new Lude.

just try your best to find out everything you can about the car, a car can look good on the outside but looks don't make the car run, its what is under the hood, and depending on how well it has been taken care of you may find a great one or a really really big waste of your money. if the place wants your business and they don't have anything to hide about the car they shouldn't have a problem giving you a carfax, and if they do give you one make sure the VIN on the report matches the one on the car. if you've got a local mechanic or someone you can trust that knows about cars and more preferably hondas then take the car for a test drive and have someone inspect it. i dont know how much money they are asking for the car but i would assume whatever amount it is you would want it to be well spent. the best thing you can practice when you are car shopping is to be patient.
