is your h22a obd1 or obd2? if its obd1 then you will need to use your obd2 dizzy.

I was under the impression that the biggest difference in those swaps are weather or not you needed the internal or external coil setup?

really?? i'm super confused by that lol. i thought that plus injectors were the main things that made a motor obd1 or 2???

Re: why do i need to swap distributors?

figured it out, the OBD1 distributors have a crank sensor in the distributor, and the 96 and up had the sensor on the oil pump. i needed a OBD1 distributor and a distributor harness from rywire.com
Rywire : OBD2 USDM Prelude to OBD1 Distributor Adapter - $50.00
that connects the crank sensor from the harness to the distributor and the distributor plug too.

Re: why do i need to swap distributors?

Got a 97 prelude and i swapped it with the 96 engine however the distributor malfunctioned. The H22 has two plugs and the one off my prelude has one. In short it wouldn't fit. What i did was that i rewired two plugs so that it would fit on my 97. I recommend doing the same thing in your case or decide not to swap the distributor with the other one. Hope this helps.

Re: why do i need to swap distributors?

ive already swaped the distributors i have and OBD1 and got the rywire harness adapter, it starts now, i just cant seem to get it to run properly. seems likes its misfiring and im getting code 9 (i believe it is, been a week since i checked it), number 1 cylinder position sensor which is in the distributor.
someone suggested i check my firing order and ill be checking that out this weekend.
im just starting to run out of things that it could be.
its running really rich, lots of carbon build up on the new plugs i put in and lots of black smoke out of the exhaust.
any ideas???
