Car bogs at 2-3000rpm

So i just got my car from the shop yesterday, I drive home fine. Once I turned the car off and started it again later on that evening the car will bog out around 2000rpm in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. I'm no mechanic but I would say there is a missfire? My second guess would be the distributor. They had replaced the cap because it had a "funny idle". Oh yeah this is the first I've driven my car since the jdm h22a swap. I'm taking the car back today for them to fix. Just wanna go in there wit an idea of what's wrong.

Re: Car bogs at 2-3000rpm

A backfire and bog are different, you'll know the difference. A bog will be not enough fuel or air, and its choking, like sputtering, a misfire is a bogx5, you'll hear popping out of the intake / exhaust.

If you're just jerking slightly and sputtering a bit, then a bog. Popping noise and throwing you back in your seat, misfiring. Misfiring without a cel = check cap and rotor. Misfiring with a cel = tps sensor usually.

EDIT: I'd actually call that shop up and be like "my car doesn't run right, fix it again," if it was fine before you brought it to them, now its running ****ty, bring it back. Their **** up.

I'm taking it back today. With the way you describe it I'd say it's definitely just bogging. Oh and this is the first time I've had the car since the swap. I just don't think they checked everything good enough. Hopefully they can have it running smoothly quick.

CEL's are easy, they tell you exactly whats wrong haha. It's when you have a problem and there is no CEL that its a PITA.
