Code 12 please help

Hey guys. The prelude is throwing a code 12--exhaust gas recirculation.

I took off the EGR and cleaned it, reinstall, reset ecu, and still throwing the code. I've never had an EGR valve before so what would be the next step?

Re: Code 12 please help

There's links here that will guide you to celan out the EGR ports!!!

Gonna have to order new caps and buy or rent a sliding hammer to pop out the old ones as well as bang in the new ones!!

You jus have a lot of dirt carbon buildup and jus gotta clean it out!!!

I'm sure someone will be kind enough to post up a link for you of the guide after flaming you for not searching!!! Always happens!!!

well I cleaned out the actual EGR valve with carb cleaner but I didn't know if there was anything oddball that would throw that code up. I'm definitely gonna get a couple feet of hose and start replacing everything. But I'll try a search on what else I can do.

I found the video. That job is going to have to wait until after this weekend. I'll update if I ever get around to it.

Re: Code 12 please help

Is there anyway I could pull the EGR valve back out and pour/ spray seafoam or some other kind of cleaner in there to clean out the ports?

Re: Code 12 please help

Well... I figured it out.. I followed all my vacuum lines and ends up there's a one way check valve between the IM and the solenoid that controls the EGR valve. The people I bought it from had installed it backwards so it blocked the vacuum. No CEL since.
