Which exhaust?

so my car has this exhaust:

i like the way it sounds, but that's about it, i don't like how it looks, nor how it makes the car look, nor how it stains the bumber with black powder resoude. so i'm getting a new one, but i wanna know which one would be the better choice?

option 1:

option 2: (same thing but smaller, which the guy said whould make more noise)

option 3:

which one you guys think would give me the better quality in sound and look?
i donlt really care for the cb because it'll be under the car either way so is not like it'll get THAT noticed. i just want a good solid sound out of my car. nothing too loud, nothing too quiet.

Re: Which exhaust?

Names would help. What exactly are we looking at? They seem to be all n1 style, which will be loud. As for the sound exactly, youtube "blank exhaust." I dunno what else to tell you from pics man haha.

I do suggest you just redo the exhaust system while you're in it all, go 2.5 or 3.0 (2.2 vtec) mendrel bent, with a nice header. Then you'll have a REAL exhaust, not just some tip.

Personally, I'd go with apexi n1, or spoon n1. Nice sound, loud enough as thats what you're looking for, and name brand trust.

thank you brother.
and yeah, i'll do a little more research.

i'm also replacing my header because it was actually cracked and torn so it was making the car sound awful. and that's the reason i was looking into the exhaust. btw. the brands mentionned up. you know at around how much they would end up being?

because you know? with school, and rent, and bills, nd books, i'm sort of in a budget

Re: Which exhaust?

Yea, its tough.

Spoon n1 is sorta rare to find, and pricey. I just bought an apexi n1 muffer for 200 new off an ebay seller, lots of apexi sound clips on youtube.

As for the headers and piping, it really depends on how much you're spending. You can go with top line headers, such as hytech replica but those will run you 400+ dollars, there's greddy or DC, though less functional, are still aftermarket headers, looking at 150ish.

To increase the piping of your exhaust for better flow, mendrel bent piping will run you another 200ish on ebay.

For a nice exhaust kit you're looking at 1000-1200 bucks, thats what I'm paying. Or just go piece by piece when money allows.

EDIT: I've been told vibrant sells some nice exhausts, google their wholesale site.

Re: Which exhaust?

honestly, if you like the exhaust you have now, just cut the pipes off before they bend up towards the bumper.

Re: Which exhaust?

id stay away from off brand mufflers like jctoy29 said, stick with name brands, cars generally aren't something that its just paying for the name. its going to be expensive but it will pay off

like what exactly do you mean? i mean. i'm not trying to be cheap or anything. obviously if i have to do something i have to do it right. even if i have to wait for the money (which would be a long time since work barely pays for school and bills and i'm on my own (under 21)) but what would be the main reason why i should buy the name brand? like the material? the sizes? specificallly made for the car?

Re: Which exhaust?

generally the name brands are known for better material, better sound, better look, and better performance. It all really matters what you are looking for in the exhaust. Skunk 2 has the mega power, apexi has some really good exhaust like the wp2 or the n1 or ws2, just look into some exhaust that you like, watch some sound clips and look up the ratings. you can find full apexi exhaust, for like 500$ new and they are pretty good.

Re: Which exhaust?

also i wasnt saying your cheap haha dont worry, i was just saying try to stay away from that stuff i know that money can be a struggle, im only 17 years old bahahaha and im on my own, just when your looking to do something make sure its right, if you get a ****ty exhaust if problems start to occur then in the long run you will be paying a lot more than you originally planned on paying, it goes for basically all parts of the car.( besides what color fuzzy dice you wanna hang from your mirror haha jk)

Re: Which exhaust?

2.5" or 3 inch with hiflo cat and resonator for sure magnaflows have a good sound but I'm gonna try the obx twin loop replica soon. . . 100$ on eBay for it so it's worth a shot lol

Re: Which exhaust?

deffinately stay away from those mufflers you have in the pictures. the salesperson who helped you with them probably can't even do an oil change lol. i have a skunk2 megapower catback on my 4th gen with the stock jdm manifold and a magnaflow highflow cat. it has a very deep smooth tone. search for sound clips on youtube so you know what you are getting and let me repeat myself, stay away from those cheap ass "tooner" mufflers!

Re: Which exhaust?

1) Don't you EVER buy an "exhaust" kit, such as apexi or whatever. You're paying 600+ dollars for piping that is UNDER 2.5 inch's. There is absolutely 0 gain, expect some sound that makes you think you are faster.

2) Don't you EVER but a name brand exhaust muffler on STOCK exhaust piping, and want it to sound deep. It will only add a bunch of rice.

3) Name brand exhaust muffler + custom (and custom meaning hundreds of dollars less then "name brand" pipe, pipe is freekin pipe) pipping [mandrel 2.5 or 3] + vibrant resonator + (give or take) vibrant megalow cat. You'll have the rumble sound you like, with just a side order of rice due to the muffler but the pipe size will counter it with a deep feel.

At the end of the day, you own a honda, and it will sound like a honda unless you rebuild the entire engine, throw some stage 3 track cams in there and have a sick nasty idle sounding like a v8 dragster. The best way to counter a rice sound is to increase the diameter of your piping, then it's just all about what muffler you want, they all sound pretty close imo. Point of a flashy exhaust is to turn heads, along with not getting smoked by the guy you're going up against when people are looking at you.
