93 lude is not running normal, help

so for the past few weeks my 93 prelude has been showing a strange symptom. sometimes when i go down a hill and the lude slows down either because of cruse control or me letting off the gas pedal the check engine light comes on. then afterwards when ever i come to a stop and shift to neutral the RPM fluctuates and the car seems as if it is loosing power but after a while it stabilizes again but then going to the next stop and shifting to neutral again the same symptom would come back (plugs, wires, starter, cap--all have been changed), even sealed the leak in the header. still it comes back...don't know for sure what the problem is....sorry if this message is long...another thing is when i am parked and i press down on the accelerator and let go of it the RPM would also fluctuate (jump up and down--then stabilizes), every time i do it it occurs...please help really need my lude to commute to school...some kind of air sensor??? Thanks

It could possibly be your IAC or idle air control valve. But it just as easily could be a vacuum leak anywhere else in your system. Check all your vacuum hoses and fittings and make sure that everything is tight, an intake manifold gasket going bad could also be a possibility. A small hole or a tear anywhere in your intake system could make your car's rpms surge (fluctuate) like that.

Re: 93 lude is not running normal, help

I checked all the hoses and re-tapped a torn air pressure hose that may have led to the IAC valve, then performed a fair cleaning of the throttle....the check engine light has not come back on for two days now, which is a good thing. If it does come back then it might well be a bad IAC...possibly because of the age of the car. Thanks for the suggestions!! Very much appreciated!
