hey guys i found an h22 on tiger japanese for $690 and it says obd 1
does that mean i need to get the ecu with the obd connector that would replace the jumper wire i have now?
and would the h22 bolt right up with what i have now(h23)

Re: found an h22 what do i need?

what year is your prelude? If you have 95 and older i believe you will not need to convert anything other than ECU depending on the type of transmition you have. And In regaurds to bolt up. It should drop right in but that depend on the year of car you have and what kind of H22 it is. but this have been covered quite abit on this fourm.. ill be right back

Re: found an h22 what do i need?

ok so you have a 93, thats obd1. so is the h22, so the only thing you will need is an ecu for a h22, but it does matter if you have a 5spd or auto. so make sure whatever h22 ecu you get is obd1 and matches your tranny. and you will need to run wires for vtec and such.

Re: found an h22 what do i need?

its a 93' 5 spd
ok so it will bolt right up to the factory motor mounts is what your saying?
and the ecu has to be programmed for manual too?
and what do you mean i have to run extra wires for vtec i thought all that came in the ecu which triggers when vtec kicks in.

well it does matter what tranny he had. I probly should have reworded it. If he had an H22 out of an SH i think the block is different. But i see he dosnt have an H22 out of an SH.

yes the mounts are the same.
And im 99% sure that there is a different between a auto ECU and a manual ECU (if wrong by allmeans some one check me)
And you well need to run a vtec wire your stock ECU was origanlly made for vtec so with that being said your wire harness would not have the vtec wire.

no, all the blocks are the same. and the 4g didnt have an sh model. all h and f blocks (excluding s2k's) fit all h and f trannys. and yes there is a difference in auto and manual ecu's

well im fully aware that the 4th gens didnt come in the SH model. I just dindt see where he said what year H22 it was but i guess i should have figured 95 and down because of the OBD1

Wrong. Not ALL h blocks are the same. Sh's are slightly different. And a sh trans will not fit on any block besides a sh block or a type s block.

If you have a manual VTEC OBD1 Prelude then an OBD1 H22 is a direct swap without need of an ECU.

You'll need an OBD1 P13 for your swap. I see them on eBay all the time for less than $80.

your words are true, but he got an obd1 h22 and obd1 didnt have SH. There was never any mention of having an SH. thats why i stated above that that all F and H blocks will work on all F and H trannys, excluding the SH.
