EL gauge cluster swap (typical blinker problem) need help!

hey guys just did the swap i have got everything back installed on the lude everythings working fine... except for the blinker situation when i first start it both blinker lights are on, but as soon as it "warms up" (it seems like) they turn off then i go to hit the left/right blinker and both indicators flash. (as far as the exterior goes everything is in fine working condition as if nothing was ever touched or messed with just the gauge cluster is messing up)

obviously i know this is a typical problem with the conversion after searching and i know there is a certain plug you have to ground (some type of 2 pin plug)???? does someone have a picture or genral location of where this awesome black wire is that needs to be grounded???

Thanks guys ready to get this problem fixed ASAP

also i noticed on other write-ups it says you need the dimmer module? to have a working dimmer switch???? what exactly do i need for this where is the module located? im speechless on this part as well! i know this is a typical problem and i know what my problems are i just need to know WHERE exactly do i need to go to fix them lol Thanks so much!

also my prelude is 95 S model ........ and the el gauge cluster is out of a 95 VTEC model. (parts taken Gauge Cluster, Whole Wire Harness For The Swap, and the Inverter Box.)

if you used the el gauge harness then its the black ground wire on the right hand side of the harness. ground it out and your good to go :)

Re: EL gauge cluster swap (typical blinker problem) need help!

i know its on the right hand side, i just wanna get confirmed about which exact wire it is, on the exact plug lol... theres 3 different plugs on the right side and just wanna make sure im grounding something that needs to be grounded. instead of grounding something that was already grounded. lol

and does anyone know the exact part i will need on the situation of my dimming controls not working!?!?

also thanks for the reply but need further more info!

Thanks preludezone!

I did the same exact swap and everything worked in mine. I swapped from a 95 vtec to a 94 s. And everythimg was plug n play. The dimmer module is by the sunroof and cruise control switch on the left side of the dash.

hahaha u got the wrong idea man the dimmer module is the plug that has one screw inside the dash to the right of the fuel/temp cluster part its held in by once screw and that is what u need for the conversion.... sad part is i actually picked it up i just didnt know it needed to be done and installed for proper operation and i dont get why you switched from a vtec to an S if i understood u correctly

The wire you need to ground for the blinkers to work correctly is on the plug that is left over (shouldn't plug to anything) on the passenger side. Splice in to the black wire of the plug and ground it anywhere.

Re: EL gauge cluster swap (typical blinker problem) need help!

well the thing is i noticed theres 3 plugs on the right side of the dash 2 are quite big and 1 is pretty small 2 or 3 pin plug... now 1 big plug, plugged right in no prob then the 1 little plug, pluggeg into a little socket as well. then the other big plug is basically left with no home??? now someone told me its the little plug that needs to be grounded. but then i here its the plug that is left over??? which one is it exactly?

I just got done with my swap. I have a 93 prelude s with the antilog cluster I bought the el cluster and the harness out of a 95 s. the swap was all plug and play I had to splice into the small three wire plug in the ps kick panel. That was the only plug left over again it was the small three wire plug and I grounded the solid black wire on one of the ends not the middle black wire with the white strip. And my blinkers work fine.
