thinking about buying a 4th gen

alright so heres the deal. i have me a 3rd gen. love her more than anything! but she just wont run for me. so i have been searching CL for a while and found me a 95 with a rebuilt H22. guy is going into the military so has to get rid of it. they want 2K for it
now the only problem i can honestly see with it. is that when i called the guy. he told me that when you first crank up the car for the first few seconds a blueish white smoke comes out of the tail pipe. which means oil is entering the Cylinder and burns oil.
now my question is. does this happen to everybody? or a huge majority? or should i just not get this prelude?

Re: thinking about buying a 4th gen

A compression and leakdown test will tell the future of your engine, kinda like Ms. Cleo ;-)

Oh, and turbochargers are air cooled, so you don't need to fool with that pesky oil line that may or may not come with your kit.

Good luck!

Re: thinking about buying a 4th gen

Its better to have all 4 cylinders to be within 10-15% of each other rather than going for the highest number possible, since it depends on alotta factors.

If that is the same engine in the pic then it is an H23. I think that is what he is advertising it as too.

Re: thinking about buying a 4th gen

Rebuilt and still blows blue smoke on startup... could be the valve seals.

Re: thinking about buying a 4th gen

Yeah. That's what I was thinking. Shouldn't be hard to do myself right? The part costs like 40ish a lil less. I shouldn't need anything else right? Other than maybe a new valve cover gasket. How much would it cost at a shop to have that done? Doesn't seem difficult. Compress the spring take out the lil tab things and take the seal out replace and put it back on?
