How much should i expect to pay.

Hey guys im in the process of looking for parts for my lude since right now its running on hopes, dreams, and the horsepower of my 2 feet. How would it be best for me to go look for an H22 buy it from a company which i found a motor and transmission for about 2500.00 from topendmotorsports.com comes witht the motor and tranny. Now i was told the H22 is not best for boosting cause of the sleeves ive been reading up on them but couldnt find a thread that went into detail on it. Pretty much i dont want to half-a** this project im gonna spend whatever money it takes to get it to be a beast. If someone can point me in the right direction as far as maybe a thread that shows how to build maybe the perfect turbo motor please show me. I pretty much want ppl to do this when they see my car and the balls that it will have.

Re: How much should i expect to pay.

best thing to do, because people are going to rip on you for this, is to RESEARCH!!! lol

and as for which motor is better for what........ any motor will out perform any motor, meaning it doesnt matter which motor you put in there.

as long as you build it right you can have a 300hp N/A f22 or a 1000hp F/I h22

Re: How much should i expect to pay.

ive been researching just im not very knowledgeable in honda motors but i am slowly learning ive been searching and looking at possible motors and which one will end up giving me the most hp with parts and then boosting it. As far as price goes i know its gonna be a lot and i know its gonna take some time but im not worried about it since its not a daily driver.

Re: How much should i expect to pay.

motors to choose from:
f22 SOHC non vtec
h23 DOHC non vtec
h22 DOHC vtec

and loads of others, but since your still new and learning those are the three to start with.
read up about each one and research the **** out of them, then you will start to see other engines like the f20b and h23vtec and obd2.
then you research the **** out of those. you'll find that many people have many opinions, and always remember, opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one and they all stink!!! lol
after you have become more comfortable with your knowledge about engines, then you should decide what type of motor you want to build, and since you already did your research you should be on the right track.

Re: How much should i expect to pay.

yea research is how can i say it nicely a b!*** lol but i have been looking up these engines a lot. The thing is the more i search the more i learn about all these crazy builds ppl are doing and im just like okay, but definately reasearching a lot that its cutting into my sleep cause im just excited to look at it. I hate tuning takes up all my time and money its like having a gf but it doesnt talk back to you, so its still a win i guess lol.

Re: How much should i expect to pay.

exactly lol!!!! thats why i try and tell people that are on a budget to go ahead with the f22 because they are by no means CRAP motors. just becuase they are SOHC doesnt mean you cant make them fast. also just because skunk2 doesnt make parts for them doesnt mean other companys dont. bisi!! f22parts.com and a few others. look at the cb7 guys. a good majority of those guys have f22s and are making good power.

Re: How much should i expect to pay.

well you can get "easy" HP out of the F22 with boost and a proper set up

If you sleeve a H series you can expect MASSIVE HP with a good build any where from 5-10k for a 500+HP reliable boost set up

you can always Frankenstein two engines together (f22 or f23 block/H series head)
if you are looking to budget build this is a good option you get the flow and power of the DOHC and the bottom end of the preferred F series. these engines tend to make more power when done correctly

either way if you ain't got at least 5 grand stowed away id keep saving if your looking to boost

it isn't impossible to have a reliable boosted non re-sleeved H series the FRM lining just don't hold up well to lots of boost its all in the tuning if you go that route.
