New pistons

i am looking at 86mm 12:1 pistons for my f22a1 and the stock pistons are 85mm, would the engine be able to hole the 86mm pistons fine or does it have to be bored out a little?

Re: New pistons

You left some info out. If you are going with different pistons you are going to have new rings. If you do that you need to hone the motor to resurface the cylinders otherwise the rings will not seal.
You or a machine shop need to mic the walls. A machine shop can hone the walls to spec.

Re: New pistons

f22A1-Bore Stroke: 85.0 95.0 mm
(found via google aka the miracle of the internet)
so im guessing no?
not 100 percent but the bore don't match up maybe someone will chime in who actually knows for sure.

just trying to shed some light on the situation

Re: New pistons

this is common sense right here, like putting a square peg in a round hole.

except you wanna put round peg into a hole thats 1mm smaller than it

Re: New pistons

i think the question you should have asked is can you bore out another mm to fit the pistons in safely.

Re: New pistons

yeah well im also thinking about buying another lude for a dd cause my source of income includes like 10 hours a week at publix and scrapping copper so i am broke and this project is going to cost me about 2300$ more to finish cause after the engine i have to redo my oil/gas cluster, replace the windshield cause someone smashed it out and i dont have insurance on it, and bondo and paint it and replace the front bumper and splash guards. interior work can wait for a while. but links to the internals i am considering are

F22a, F22B1 86mm 12:1 compression - $459.99 : Bisimoto Engineering, Where Efficiency Meets Technological Perfection

F22Ax, F22Bx, F23, F18, F20Bx SOHC Cam gear - $135.00 : Bisimoto Engineering, Where Efficiency Meets Technological Perfection

Level 2, F22A/B regrind, non-vtec - $249.00 : Bisimoto Engineering, Where Efficiency Meets Technological Perfection

F22A, F22B non-vtec pro springs & Ti retainers - $369.00 : Bisimoto Engineering, Where Efficiency Meets Technological Perfection

Re: New pistons

haha you make more an hour than i do but thats funny you work at publix also, im a bagger and i make 7.85 an hour. But i am only 17 so i have nothing but time, i have birthday coming in march and graduation money and im not going to college, I am planing to go to wyo tech. I want to become a Mechanic because for some reason no matter what i do i am brought right back to cars haha i love them and never get tired of them, and i feel taking a part this whole engine and redoing it in a high profile build will be a good start haha. I have 3 pictures up in my album if you want to see how it looks since ive gotten the car.

Also i think its funny that the only other person with a prelude around here that i know also works at another publix.
