LSD M2B4 tranny owners

If your h22 didn't come with the lsd, where did you get yours? I've been doing google search's, looking at jdm engine warehouse sites, and ebay, and I can't find a single m2b4 lsd jdm tranny, not even a high mile over priced one.

My tranny had 2nd gear done in it, and now 5 is on its way, and 3rd is hitting when going it, but not a grind. I'd rather just spend 700-800 for a <~30k m2b4 lsd and have it put in, instead of spending the 2k+ to change out the gears.

I don't know if my current is an lsd, I'll find out tomorrow, will a small burnout show enough? 1 skid vs 2 skids?

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

lol most likly your car isnt lsd unles sit its aftermarket if you post your tranny code on here i can tell you if it came with lsd or not but the m2b4 came in jdm preludes as an option for lsd the m2a4 came standard in jdm preludes and have the same exact gear ratios, synchros, everything as the m2b4 just with an open non lsd dif. getting an m2a4 and getting an aftermarket gear type lsd in my opinion is more effective as far as price and performance is concerned.. just my 2 cents :)

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

The engine is a jdm h22a swap, tranny came with the engine, but I didnt do it myself. Is it by default m2b4?

Sorry your wording is a bit difficult to grasp. =p

EDIT: Ah, ok, I see.

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

well if it is a jdm swap it very much could be the m2b4 just as much as the m2a4 as well the code is right to the left of the H22A bar code on your block its the bar code stamped on your trans and the 4 first letters/numbers is the code your tranny and thats mainly what im asking for

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

I'll take a look at the code tomorrow, didnt know it was so close. I usually dont mess with anything transmission related.

You mentioned, if it is the m2a4, I can make it into an LSD with aftermarket gears? How much would that run, and how complicated (for a mechanics sake)?

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

It is in fact a m2b4 tranny, says the vin sticker.

Should I invest in rebuilding it (oem or aftermarket gears)? Or go with a newer used one?

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

If you wanna get another m2b4, look into hmotorsonline.com

They have them for sale for like $850 I think.

Edit: Nvm. They have t2t4 transmissions for that price

He'd have to buy a whole new trans to put in an aftermarket LSD. The diff housing in the M2B4 is a little over an inch smaller than the non LSD ones unfortunately

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

look man if you buy another tranny and throw this one out ill take this one from you man if the price is right...

but if your going m2b4 then just dont waste your money on buying after market LSD just stick with what it comes with... but if you go ahead with the m2a4 invest in maybe a synchrotech lsd about 650$ shipped...

Re: LSD M2B4 tranny owners

Thanks for the info guys, helps. I'd have to calculate what the gears snycro's would cost me vs m2a4 lsd mod. Least I have an idea now.
