valve job????

Im having my head surfaced, cleaned and checked for cracks. The motor has 240k miles and there has always been what sounds like a slight ticking of the valves. Should i have my valves done by the machine shop at same time or should i just leave them alone???????

Re: valve job????

Have them checked by a mechanic you trust to see if they need to be attended to. Might as well since your head is going to be apart anyways right?

X2. My Mech and I sent my head from the 3rd gen to do the same and he is changing the valves as well. They charged me 250 for everything.

Re: valve job????

At 240k, I'd have the head rebuilt. New valves and seals and guides. With that kind of time on the clock, now isn't the time to see how much longer those parts will last.

Re: valve job????

If you have the money, get it rebuilt. If you do not, at least have the valves checked out.
