Re: A/C works but heater doesn't!!

Heat in cars is generated by bringing hot coolant behind the dash into a heater core and then blowing air on top of it. The coolant is usually at 180-195 degrees. This is controlled by a valve which is controlled by the slider.

Could be that your slider is broken: the slider is connected to a cable that controls the heater control valve which is known to seize (well, every prelude I have seen it's been seized). For info cable connected to heater valve siezed?

The heater control valve is under the intake. You can check either the temperatures of the coolant pipe going in and coming out around there or if you can see clearly, you can see if the valve is open or close (it's in the manual somewhere).

The other reason could be that your heater control valve is fine but your coolant is not getting warm. Could be due to a thermostat that is stuck open. Does the temperature bar in the car go up when you idle for a while and go down when you drive? Then, it's the thermostat. Do you get heat when you idle and no heat when you drive. Then, it's the thermostat.

If not, then your valve or the cable controlling the valve is seized and the slider is broken.

Slider cable could be popped out of position. Is there any resistance when you move the slider?

Re: A/C works but heater doesn't!!

take pass seat out [its easy that way lol] crawl under there and manually move the lever see if it gets warm then... if it dont the behind you engine there are 2 hoses one pushes water in and one pulls it out open the hoses (1 at a time) if hot fluid is flowing out them both then its circulating properly.

if not look for kinks . if its still cold... you didnt change the lever right or theres water all over your floor.

Re: A/C works but heater doesn't!!

might be off topic a bit but whenever i turn on my fan, you can hear a rattling noise like somethings caught. everything works but it takes forever for the heat or a/c to kick in and the slider is hard to move back and forth. deff need advice

Re: A/C works but heater doesn't!!

all info you need is above, just from what i gather you need a new blower fan and fix the slider bar that may have popped out or broke. you will have to remove some stuff on the dash to sure of anything tho.

Re: A/C works but heater doesn't!!

Or that you air vent plastic is broken and stuff like leaves is getting into the hole to the blower and ratting around in there. I suppose you could open the blower and clean it out.

Also, your cable to the heater valve could be frozen. There is a thread that says it's a design problem in the ludes and corrected in the Accords.

It's for the 5th gen, but have to make adjustment for the 4th gen dash.
